For Sweeney, who has filmed many intimate scenes as Cassie Howard on Sam Levinson's "Euphoria," an intimacy coordinator would be on set to make sure the actress was supported and comfortable throughout filming any scenes.  Dr.

How ‘Euphoria’ Captured the Soundscape of Rue’s Breakdown

Jazz Tangcay Artisans EditorSound mixer Sean O’Malley has landed his first Emmy nomination for the particularly complex fifth episode of HBO’s “Euphoria.”In the fifth episode, “Stand Still Like a Hummingbird,” Zendaya’s Rue hits rock bottom, going through a painful drug withdrawal and experiencing fear and anger as her emotional state spirals. Zendaya’s journey is hectic and paranoia-inducing, and in order to get it right, O’Malley spent a lot of time discussing how to capture the sound for creator Sam Levinson. The key was capturing the sound in-camera rather than adding things in post, and by doing that, O’Malley delivered the best sonic environment to make audiences feel every moment of the episode.

Zendaya almost lost ‘Euphoria’ role to unknown actress: “We all loved her”

Euphoria casting director Jennifer Venditti has revealed that Zendaya’s role nearly went to a first time actress.Speaking to Variety, Venditti said that Zendaya was always first choice for the part of Rue – a troubled teen with a drug addiction – but at one stage the HBO series had its eye on an unknown talent.“There was a young woman who had been street scouted by my team who was a magical person and had a similar trajectory as Rue and had come around to the other side,” Venditti said, in reference to Rue’s struggles with drug addiction.“But with a TV show, it can be many years [of work]. We all loved her, but when we went through the rigour of the process, we didn’t know if she could handle what it would take in terms of stamina.”Venditti went as far as to assign the young star an acting coach in the hope of preparing her for the emotional weight of the show.

Euphoria was debauched? Wait until you get a load of what its co-creator, Sam Levinson, has been working on. ‘The sleaziest love story in all of Hollywood’ is quite a bold claim for a brand new series to start throwing around, but given Levinson’s previous form, it’s probably justified. And the trailer for The Idol certainly sets up the stall for the new HBO show: hot young things writhing around by a pool, in parties, in strip clubs; spraying Champagne and racking up lines; literal pants being dropped and steamy sex scenes against the illuminating backdrop of La La Land by night.
