I mean, we already knew that to an extent after her audacious debut, “Promising Young Woman,” but to say she’s taken that to another level with her latest extravagant concoction, “Saltburn,” is an understatement of epic proportions.

How many secrets can one family have? Filmmaker Emerald Fennell returns with “Saltburn,” a darkly comedic drama centered on a group of wealthy Oxford students who escape to a lush estate for the summer. A follow-up to her critically acclaimed effort “Promising Young Woman,” the upcoming project sees a hapless college student search for a welcoming clique; what he discovers is another student offering a different world and the prospect of an irresistible invitation.

McKinley Franklin editor Barry Keoghan and Jacob Elordi are gearing up for the summer of their lives in the official teaser trailer for Emerald Fennell’s sophomore feature “Saltburn.” Set in the mid-2000s, the twisted drama follows Oxford University student Oliver Quick (Keoghan), who finds himself intrigued by the world of his aristocratic peer, Felix Catton (Elordi). Felix then invites Oliver to Saltburn, his family’s luxury estate, where they spend “a summer never to be forgotten” together. In addition to Keoghan and Elordi, the “Saltburn” cast includes Rosamund Pike, Richard E.

Amid all the noise about studios taking apart the fall and fourth-quarter release schedule over the SAG-AFTRA strike, here’s some good news: Amazon is taking its Emerald Fennell-directed movie Saltburn out on Black Friday, November 24, in New York and Los Angeles. Pic will expand December 1.

Charna Flam As “The Wheel of Time” prepares to return for a second season at Prime Video, the Amazon Studios production has added four cast members to play characters from Robert Jordan’s series of fantasy novels. The announcement was made Saturday afternoon at JordanCon, which is dedicated to the author and celebrates sci-fi and fantasy writing. Maja Simonsen (“Emily in Paris”), Ragga Ragnars (“Vikings”), Jay Duffy (“Hollyoaks”) and Rima Te Wiata (“Kiri and Lou”) have all joined the series for recurring roles.

And with her latest behind-the-camera effort, “Don’t Worry Darling,” the actress turned filmmaker constructs a sexy and suspenseful thriller. It’s a film that should resonate with moviegoers, who may show up to check out an easy-on-the-eyes ensemble that includes Florence Pugh, Harry Styles and Chris Pine. At the very least, it’s a film that will continue to generate plenty of chatter (there’s already a ton of pre-release headlines being made, some of them even about the movie itself). However, like most popcorn thrillers, the chances of the Academy checking the film off on their ballots is as farfetched as the movie’s attempt to make Harry Styles look unattractive in one critical scene. Nice try but I don’t buy it.

K.J. Yossman Jamie Laurenson and Hakan Kousetta’s 60Forty Films has inked an overall deal with Apple TV+, Variety can exclusively reveal. They are already in production on upcoming Apple TV+ thriller series “Hijack,” starring Idris Elba, which they are producing alongside Idiotlamp Productions and Elba’s company Green Door Pictures. “Hijack” tells the story of Sam Nelson (played by Elba), an accomplished business negotiator whose quick-thinking, smooth-talking skills become crucial when the plane he is on is hijacked. Laurenson and Kousetta have worked closely with Apple for a number of years, including on Gary Oldman-starrer “Slow Horses” (pictured above) and “The Essex Serpent,” starring Claire Danes and Tom Hiddleston, both of which the duo lead exec produced.

Rich Flu.As reported in Variety, Culkin will join Daniel Brühl and Rosamund Pike in the new film, which is directed by Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia.Filming will begin on the project this autumn and it’s described as a “high-concept social thriller in which a deadly disease starts killing off the richest people on the planet,” according to Variety.The description adds: “At first it strikes the billionaires, then the multi-millionaires, and so on. With the whole world panicking and headed for collapse, people are trying to flood the market with assets they no longer want, in hopes of saving their skin.”Gaztelu-Urrutia is directing Rich Flu from a script he co-wrote with Pedro Rivero, who he’d previously worked with on The Platform, as well as David Desola and Sam Steiner.Culkin had his breakthrough role in the Home Alone franchise and starred in other 90s films such as The Good Son, My Girl and Richie Rich. After taking a break from acting, he returned with roles in 2003’s Party Monster and 2007’s Sex and Breakfast.
