Square Enix has announced Octopath Traveler 2, a standalone sequel to 2018’s 2.5D role-playing game (RPG) Octopath Traveler.Octopath Traveler 2 is set to launch on February 24, 2023 and will be available on PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.You can watch Octopath Traveler 2‘s announcement trailer below:Octopath Traveler 2 will introduce eight new travellers to the series, which will interact with each other more than they did in the first game. Speaking of which, Square Enix has also stressed that the sequel is a completely standalone title that “tells a completely new story, set in a different era and a brand new land.”“It’s a time of trade and industrial revolution – large vessels navigate busy sea routes, and the power of steam has given birth to new technologies,” describes Square Enix.

Pikmin 4 is finally coming to the Nintendo Switch, and will release sometime in 2023.The game was announced during today’s (September 13) Nintendo Direct Stream, alongside a brief trailer. While the trailer really doesn’t give anything much away, series creator Shigeru Miyamoto said that the game would allow fans to experience it from “a new perspective.” The trailer, interestingly, already offers a new perspective on the Pikmin – showing them at ground-level for the first time.“Nintendo Switch has made controlling the game simpler, meaning you can concentrate on the core essence of Pikmin gameplay,” said Miyamoto.

Fall Guys Season 2 has just been announced as a journey into space in the aptly named Satellite Scramble, and sees the beans collaborating with the likes of Star Trek, Alien, and virtual persona Hatsune Miku.A new cinematic trailer has revealed Satellite Scramble with new content on the way including a new season pass with costumes and space-themed rounds to battle through with the aim of holding the crown at the end of the hit battle royale.The residents of the Blunderdome will leave their planet for the first time and explore intergalactic courses, with new challenges to be added. A launch event is planned for the arrival of Season 2: Satellite Scramble which will take place on September 15 and is called Satellite Explorers.Players will be tasked with repairing the Fall Guys satellite by collecting points, with a series of new rewards including in-game currency Kudos, a pattern, a nameplate, a nickname and a backpack costume item all available to attain.One new level style, Tiptoe Finale, sees up to four squads tiptoeing their way across a series of unstable platforms to reach the crown in the middle of the arena to claim victory.

Disney Dreamlight Valley has shown a trailer for a new Toy Story realm coming to the game later this year at the first ever Disney and Marvel Games Showcase.Disney Dreamlight Valley was released earlier this week (September 6) by developer and publisher Dreamloft and immediately smashed the Steam charts, soaring to number one after less than 24 hours. Reviews on Steam suggest that players are particular fans of the game’s comprehensive avatar editor and other customisation options.The game is currently in early access with a full release planned in 2023, and leans heavily into Animal Crossing vibes with a hefty dose of inspiration from the likes of Stardew Valley and The Sims very evident.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns received a new gameplay trailer and release date at last night’s (September 9) Disney and Marvel Games Showcase.The card-based tactical action role-playing game (RPG) will be released on December 2 for PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, with the release date for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch to be confirmed later.Marvel’s Midnight Suns was originally set to release in early 2022, but late last year was pushed back, before receiving an October 7 release date at this year’s Summer Game Fest. The game was then delayed a second time, with promises of a release timeframe before “the end of this fiscal year”, which is March 2023.

Overwatch 2 developer Blizzard Entertainment has confirmed that any new heroes in the shooter will be available on the free track of the battle pass.Earlier in the month, Blizzard mistakenly revealed that heroes in Overwatch 2 will need to be unlocked through a battle pass. The now-removed post caused fans to express concern over Overwatch 2‘s monetisation model, with worries that heroes could require spending money to unlock.Today (September 8), Overwatch commercial leader and vice president Jon Spector has confirmed that heroes will still be available to unlock for free – though players will need to earn them through a free battle pass system.“Addressing some incomplete info posted early about our Overwatch 2 battle pass,” Spector posted on Twitter.

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, a spiritual successor to Sega‘s Jet Set Radio, has been delayed to summer 2023.The delay was announced by developer Team Reptile yesterday (August 31), with a Twitter statement outlining why the game has been delayed.“We are convinced that releasing the game this year will not take it to a level where we would be personally satisfied with,” shared Team Reptile. “To create a fulfilling and unique game we are extending the development of Bomb Rush Cyberfunk to summer 2023.”In better news, the studio added that it will be “dumping a lot more visuals this week to show how it is shaping up.” You can watch a new clip of Bomb Rush Cyberfunk‘s boostpack in action below:Using their boostpacks players can do special 'Boost Tricks' like this 1080 spin.

Nintendo has released a new seven-minute Japanese gameplay trailer for Splatoon 3 ahead of the game’s release next month.The latest trailer dives into everything: from Splatoon 3 stages players will be competing on, the core abilities and mechanics of the third-person shooter, as well as the different modes including single-player and the Salmon Run.Footage of teamplay is also showcased with two squads of four players going head to head. Gamescom 2022, a new hybrid rhythm-fighting game was announced in the form of God Of Rock.God of Rock will see the universe’s “greatest musicians” competing against one another in rhythmic fashion to secure the title of musical supremacy in a game that feels part Guitar Hero, part Street Fighter.Rhythm-based gameplay combines with fighting game mechanics in 1v1 matches, with a dozen unique fighters to choose from. Each fighter has their own design, attack style and mechanics to familiarise yourself with, as well as building up a “meter” by hitting normal moves accurately to the beat of the song.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet shows off Cyclizar, a normal/dragon Pokémon that can be ridden like a bicycle. The trailer also focuses heavily on battling, and was revealed during the 2022 Pokémon World Championships (August 21)This is the best look at battling we’ve gotten so far for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, with several new items being detailed along with a closer look at how Terastallizing works.Cyclizar is the latest Pokémon to be revealed for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, and looks to be a rideable Pokémon much like the game’s Legendary Pokémon Koraidon and Miraidon.

Genshin Impact stream shared new details on the 3.0 update for the game, including a release date and a brand new trailer. Version 3.0 is titled The Morn a Thousand Roses Brings, and is set to release August 24, it’s been announced. The trailer for the update is quite substantial, including roughly six minutes of in-game footage, laying the groundwork for the narrative.The trailer also shows a new character, the travelling merchant Dori, new artifacts, and new weapons.

Capcom has revealed the details of Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak‘s first major post-launch update, confirming an August 10 release date.During the Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak digital event today (August 9), the publisher released the content trailer for the free Title Update 1.To start off, the update will bring four new monsters including the newly revealed Silver Rathalos and Gold Rathian, who have both appeared in multiple Monster Hunter games in the past.There’s also Lucent Nargacuga, a rare species that first debuted in Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate which can turn invisible, and the Seething Bazelgeuse which has explosive scales. Players will also be able to experience the return of the Forlorn Arena locale, home to the Lucent Nargacuga. New armour sets will be available to players when the update releases.

We Are OFK, will launch later this month on August 18.In a new PlayStation blog post shared today (August 2), We Are OFK‘s creative director Teddy Dief revealed the news, confirming that the game will be released in a little under three weeks for PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.We Are OFK is an episodic-based game and will launch with the first two episodes. Three more episodes will be released on a weekly basis, so the game will consist of five chapters.

Respawn Entertainment has revealed the details for Apex Legends season 14, as well as the long-term goals the studio has for the battle royale.During the season 14 press event, the developer talked about its future plans for the free-to-play first-person shooter in a Q&A. It touched on ranked updates and in-game gifting and most notably the long-awaited cross-progression.

Terraria‘s highly-anticipated 1.4.4 update is apparently “extremely close” to the end of development and could release soon.According to a new Terraria State of the Game blog post talking about the upcoming Labor of Love update, 1.4.4 has “reached a point where we feel like the end of development is extremely close”  (via PCGamesN).Re-Logic explained that it has been “whittling down” the bugs and tasks lists, while also taking on community ideas. The developer also dived into what players can expect from the update, most notably the evolved Void Bag.In Labor of Love the Void bag, the portable and personal storage container, is set to include an expanded functionality to enhance its use as an extra inventory.

Among Us developer Innersloth has explained how the studio almost stopped active development of the social game in 2019.Innersloth’s Marcus Bromhander appeared on the Visionaries Podcast last week (July 27) and talked about how the team was “basically done” with the game’s development in 2019 (transcription via PCGamesN).“We were basically done with [Among Us] at the start of 2019,” said Bromhander, after the game was released in late 2018 and received updates and extra content before 2019.Bromhander added that the team thought “that’s it, no more, time to work on something else,” and that some staff started “prototyping some other game ideas that got pretty far.”Check out the full podcast episode below:It was around this time in early 2019 that InnerSloth saw its social deduction game get immensely popular, so the studio changed its mind and decided to continue developing and support the idea.“Should we do Among Us 2 or should we update the game that everyone is already playing?” added Bromander. “There’s so many people playing, I wanted to experience releasing updates like that to a lot of people.”It was then in late 2020 that InnerSloth announced it was cancelling plans for an Among Us 2, instead opting to push all the ideas for content into the original game.The updates for Among Us are still coming as well, as it has had crossovers with both Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator and Fortnite in the last few months alone.In other news, it’s been revealed that developers and publishers at Gamescom 2022 could be paying upwards of £71,000 to show a game off during Opening Night Live.

Epic Games has announced that the WWE superstar and actor, John Cena, is heading to Fortnite this week.As part of the Epic SummerSlam, the 16-time Champion will be available as the John Cena Outfit in the Item Shop on July 28 at 8 PM ET and July 29 at 1 AM GMT.The character skin will also come with the Entrance Gear and Ring Gear styles. Additional optional content is also coming to the Item Shop, including the John Cena Set: the WWE Championship Title Back Bling, which comes with the oufit, the open-hand Five Digit Slapper Pickaxe, and the ‘U Can’t C Me Emote’.Live fast, fight hard, no regrets! Video game creator Nintendo will recognize people in same-sex relationships, just as they had recognized “traditional marriages” — even when the country of Japan doesn’t.Last week the $95 billion company released its corporate social responsibility initiatives (CSRI) with one thing standing out.In the “Introduction of a Partnership System” portion of the CSRI, reports Go Nintendo, Nintendo restated that as of March 2021, the company has had a policy where  “same-sex partners” will have the “same benefits as employees in an opposite-sex marriage.”This policy contrasts with the legal battle ongoing in Japan to get same-sex couples recognized by law. Attempts at national and municipal legal changes have been made, but nothing has come from it. In a recent case on June 20 in Osaka, it was found that “under the constitution, the definition of marriage did not extend to partnerships between people of the same gender.” This effectively bans same-sex marriage in the country.Nintendo’s statement reads simply that if you are in a “common law” marriage, you will be granted the same rights as “traditional” couples.“Although same-sex marriages are not currently recognized under Japanese law, this system ensures employees who are in a domestic partnership with a same-sex partner have the same benefits as employees in an opposite-sex marriage,” the policy reads.

Dead By Daylight has launched its first exclusive anime crossover with a 10-outfit collection inspired by Attack on Titan.Today (July 19), Behaviour Interactive officially released its previously announced Attack On Titan collaboration in the form of downloadable content (DLC) collection.The collection features eight Very Rare Outfits for Survivors and two Ultra Rare Outfits for Killers inspired by the massively popular anime and manga series.Players will be able to dress Survivors to look like the main cast, including Dwight Fairfield in Eren’s uniform, Yui Kimura in Mikasa’s, Felix Richter in Armin’s and Jake Park in Levi’s. Oddworld Inhabitants has announced that Oddworld: Soulstorm is coming to Nintendo Switch as the Oddtimized Edition.The Oddtimized Edition will see the game “optimised for Nintendo Switch to take advantage of the platform’s unique features” and will also feature gameplay currently found on its other platforms.Right now, publisher Microids is offering players the option to pre-order a Limited or Collector’s Edition of the Oddworld: Soulstorm Oddtimized, but no release date has been confirmed.While the Limited “Oddition” features the game as well as a collectable case with 24 cartridge slots and three art prints, the Collector’s version contains the most amount of goodies.Those who pre-order will receive a unique collectors box which contains the Oddworld: Soulstorm standard edition for Switch, the same collectable case with 24 cartridge slots and an exclusive 9-inch (22 cm) silver figurine of the protagonist Abe, Mudokon hero. Finji has announced that the upcoming indie title I Was A Teenage Exocolonistwill be coming to Nintendo Switch. The coming-of-age narrative RPG will be coming to Nintendo Switch on August 25, alongside its release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Mac, and Linux. The game also has a demo available on Steam from today (July 7) until July 10, 4:59pm BST / 11:59 ET, and it can be wishlisted on Steam.Additionally, there’s a new trailer 90-second trailer for the game that shows off more in-game footage that highlights some choice-making, exploration, and character interactions.Northway Games, developer of I Was A Teenage Exocolonist, already has a few titles under its belt (including PC, mobile, and VR games) with this being its seventh release so far.

2K Games has confirmed that Olympic gold medalists Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi are set to star on the cover of NBA 2K23 alongside Michael Jordan and one more unannounced athlete.The limited-edition version of the game will be available exclusively via Gamestop in the US, with pre-orders launching tomorrow. EasySpeezy recently undertook the challenge of speedrunning Cuphead while simultaneously climbing a mountain.By duct-taping a gaming laptop to a backpack, EasySpeezy was able to play Cuphead with a wired controller by closely following behind an accomplice wearing the backpack.The team’s strategy included Easy’s brother calling out obstacles in the speedrunner’s path so he wouldn’t have to look away from Cuphead while climbing. If a particularly challenging climbing section was ahead then Easy would pause the game to focus on climbing and continue after the section had been passed.The mountain in question is Mount Mansfield, the largest mountain in the state of Vermont.

No Man’s Sky community has created its own cryptocurrency for players who have reached the endgame.As reported by Vice, the cryptocurrency – named HubCoin – was created by members of the Galactic Hub community which aims to provide a deeper cooperative experience for players of the sci-fi survival game.HubCoin is directly aimed at players who have reached the endgame of No Man’s Sky and are no longer in need of the game’s in-game currencies, but “still desire access to those things which can only be achieved by player activity,” said the Galactic Hub founder 7101334.“They want to commission ByteBeat tracks under certain parameters, they want to pay for an artistic canvas in their base, they want a PC player to save-edit a custom fauna companion for them, they want a skilled architect to help design their base or do interior decoration, or maybe they just want the simple convenience of not gathering their own resources.”According to the report, HubCoin runs on an Ethereum “testnet” and is effectively in its public test realm (PTR) stage.

Klonoa: Phantasy Reverie Series has said he thinks the game could lead to more remasters if it’s successful.In a new interview with Digital Trends, Ryo Ishida discussed Klonoa: Phantasy Reverie Series, which includes the remasters of Klonoa: Door To Phantomile and Klonoa 2: Lunatea’s Veil. Ishida touched on bringing the beloved titles back to its loyal fanbase during its 25th anniversary while also explaining how he hopes that new users will enjoy the release as well.When asked whether new Klonoa games could arrive in the future, Ishida said: “I could not say for sure, but we would like to focus on spreading the IP once again with the remastered version.“If the reaction from the community is good, there might be other remastered Klonoa games we could propose as well!”During the interview, the producer also explained how there were “some nerves” about releasing the remastered Klonoa games since there are a lot of existing fans of the IP. “We also needed to present the game to new players in the current generation, so we have to create a quality game that satisfies both audiences,” he said.Klonoa: Phantasy Reverie Series launches on July 7 for PC via Steam, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.The games were originally released in 1977 by Bandai Namco and feature a side-scrolling platformer with a colourful character roster and vibrant game world. The remasters will feature 60FPS and updated graphics with up to 4K resolution.

Square Enix has unveiled Harvestella, a Stardew Valley-like role-playing game coming to Nintendo Switch and Steam on November 4.During the Nintendo Direct Mini today (June 28), the publisher shared the first trailer for the life simulation RPG which featured the playable character, dubbed the Traveler, on a planet where four giant crystals, known as the Seaslight, govern the seasons.“Through the changing seasons, explore an imaginative world, tend your crops, make new friends, face enemies in dynamic combat, and unravel the mystery of the season of death, Quietus,” the description reads.In a separate blog post, the publisher confirmed that players will be able to experience the four seasons while enjoying daily life, socialising and adventuring.Dungeons will also be featured in the game, where players will be able to take on monsters if they so choose. Harvestella will allow free engagement, meaning players will be able to choose what they spend their time doing.However, every 30 days the season changes and that’s when Quietus occurs – a season of death.

GameCube title Metroid Prime making its way to Switch have yet again started circulating. This most recent claim comes from VentureBeat journalist Jeff Grubb, who disclosed the information via Giant Bomb’s Game Mess Morning Show. He stated that he had been told “pretty definitively” that a remastered version of the game would be coming to Switch later this year, and would be one of Nintendo’s flagship holiday releases for 2022.He explains that he’d heard something “was in the works” in the past.

Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope appears to have been leaked by its publisher Ubisoft. The alleged release date was spotted on the Ubisoft Store, with the game being slated for an October 20 release. The date has since been reverted back to the vague 2022 release window, although this hasn’t stopped people from taking screenshots and posting them online.

Sega has revealed that Two Point Campus will release with free Pride-themed downloadable content (DLC) when it launches in August, and announced a stream that will show off the content while raising money for transgender rights charity Mermaids.Two Point Campus publisher Sega has shared that the game’s first DLC will be the Pride Pack, which players will be able to pick up for free when Two Point Campus launches on August 9 (via PCGamesN).The DLC will include a range of rainbow-themed decorations for flooring, walls and beds, and will be explored in more detail today (June 28) during a livestream at 7PM BST.Besides sharing an “exclusive look” at what the Pride Pack will include, Sega’s livestream commemorates the anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall riots.

StudioMDHR’s executive producer has said that the upcoming Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course downloadable content (DLC) could have been released as a standalone title.Maja Moldenhauer spoke with Nintendo Everything in an article published today (June 19), and they responded to a question about whether or not The Delicious Last Course was ever going to be a standalone game, instead of a DLC for the original Cuphead.“Yeah! There was a discussion – it was a brief discussion at the beginning of the development in 2019 when we actually put pencil to paper,” explained Moldenhauer. “But ultimately at the end of the day, it fit this chapter of the Cuphead story.

Sonic Team has been insistent on referring to its upcoming Sonic Frontiers as being “Open Zone” as opposed to open-world, and now director Morio Kishimoto has specifically clarified the differences between the two terms.“Level-based platformers often have a world map. Our Open Zone is a world map, only we’ve made it entirely playable,” Kishimoto stated in an interview with IGN.
