What’s going on with Terrence Malick’s “The Last Planet” movie about Jesus? Well, not much publicly anyhow. As usual, most of it is under the radar, but a new sign suggests it’s entering the post-production stages and perhaps inching towards completion (though with Malick, you never know).

Aaron Sorkin is known for certain trademarks: the walk-and-talk, the breathless dialogue, crescendos of feeling. Many of them have, of course, been made into films anyway.I’d nominate “Waiting for the Barbarians” for that list after seeing Colombian director Ciro Guerra’s adaptation of J.M.
Watching Mark Rylance play a man of basic decency getting swallowed up by an evil world — and a sadistic Johnny Depp — in “Waiting for the Barbarians," I absent-mindedly jotted down in my notes: “Nobody does basic decency like Mark Rylance.” Then I remembered: Nobody quite does INdecency like Rylance, either. Watch him play a villain, a creep, or maybe a scheming Shakespearean king, and you'll be chilled to the bone.
