The well-liked veteran exec has been with Fifth Season (formerly known as Endeavor Content) for the past six years, helping to build its film slate and managing the film development team alongside Dan Guando. Deadline understands that her departure is amicable and that she will remain attached to select projects in an executive producer capacity. It is also understood this is unrelated to the recent staff cuts at Fifth Season, which were spurred on as a result of the impact of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

The Film Independent Spirit Awards are underway on the beach in Santa Monica , with Saturday’s ceremony one of the last major awards stops ahead of March 12’s Academy Awards, whose voters still have ballots in hand.

Close behind are Todd Field’s “Tár” with seven noms and Charlotte Wells’ “Aftersun” with five. All three movies picked up Oscar nominations this year, with “Everything Everywhere” also leading the Academy Awards pack with a total of 11 nominations. While last year’s Spirit Award winner for best feature, Maggie Gyllenhaal’s “The Lost Daughter,” did not go on to land an Oscar nomination in the same category, the 2021 winner, Chloe Zhao’s “Nomadland,” repeated at the Oscars and took home the best picture prize.

The 2023 Film Independent Spirit Awards kick off Saturday at 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT on the beach at the Santa Monica Pier. The ceremony, hosted by Hasan Minhaj, will be livestreamed on Film Independent’s YouTube channel and Twitter feed as well as on IMDb’s YouTube channel.

Zack Sharf Olivia Wilde has cited films such as “Inception” and “The Truman Show” as inspiration for her psychological thriller “Don’t Worry Darling,” but a far more unexpected source of inspiration is the incel community. Wilde told fellow actor-turned-director Maggie Gyllenhaal during a conversation for Interview Magazine that Chris Pine’s character was inspired by Jordan Peterson, the Canadian author and media personality described by Wilde as “this pseudo-intellectual hero to the incel community.” Pine stars in “Don’t Worry Darling” as Frank, the founder of a utopian 1950s community in the desert known as the “Victory Project.” Wilde’s film, written by her “Booksmart” collaborator Katie Silberman, centers on Florence Pugh’s Alice, a Victory Project housewife who discovers her idyllic community is harboring dark secrets. Trailers for “Don’t Worry Darling” have positioned Pine’s Frank as the film’s antagonist.
