Julia Roberts is taking on a big new role.

Joe Otterson TV ReporterJulia Roberts has signed on to star in a series adaptation of the upcoming Laura Dave novel “The Last Thing He Told Me” at Apple.Roberts will executive produce in addition to starring, with Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter of Hello Sunshine also executive producing. Hello Sunshine optioned the book from Dave, who will adapt the book for television and executive produce along with her husband, Josh Singer.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw will be starring in Apple’s upcoming new thriller series called Surface.

The movie adaptation of bestselling murder mystery novel Where the Crawdads Sing has found its director. Olivia Newman, who wrote and directed Netflix feature First Match, will helm Sony Pictures' feature adaptation of the Delia Owen's debut novel that has dominated the New York Times bestsellers list since it was published 2019.

Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor will write the screenplay for Reese Witherspoon’s “Legally Blonde 3.”
