‘Legally Blonde 3’ Taps Mindy Kaling, Dan Goor as Writers

Mindy Kaling is one of the biggest players in Hollywood right now. As a writer, producer, and actress it seems there is nothing the mother of her two-year-old daughter Katherine can’t do.

It’s been a couple of years since it was reported that Reese Witherspoon was going to reprise her “Legally Blonde” starring role in a new sequel in the comedy franchise. And since then, there hasn’t been much news regarding the third film.

Elle Woods from Legally Blonde is just an iconic character. First played by Reese Witherspoon in 2001, Elle is permanently dressed in pink, has long blonde hair and totes a miniature dog, and is someone easily mistaken for a ‘bimbo’, but then she goes and gets into Harvard Law School.

Reese Witherspoon is all set to play her iconic role of Elle Woods in Legally Blonde 3 and Mindy Kaling is handling the script of the film. The 44-year-old actress confirmed the news on Instagram and expressed her excitement over collaborating with Mindy for the project.

It's hard to believe it's been 19 years since we first met the UCLA sister turned Harvard Law graduate, and 17 years since we left Elle in Washington pursuing her dreams ending animal cosmetic testing. 

Reese Witherspoon has confirmed a third Legally Blonde film is in the works, with The Office star Mindy Kaling to co-write the script.
