Owen Gleiberman Chief Film Critic “Old Dads,” a Netflix comedy about three middle-aged dads in Los Angeles, each trying to deal with the delayed pleasures and perils of fatherhood, sounds like a Hollywood satire to watch along with “Bad Moms,” or maybe the sort of broad burlesque of child-rearing that would star someone like John Cena. Actually, though, it’s not that sort of movie. It was directed and co-written by Bill Burr, who also stars in it, and it’s been spun out of the kind of prickly incorrect observations that are the hallmark of Burr’s stand-up comedy — and also the kind of squirm comedy that powers his anthology series “Immoral Compass.” “Old Dads” isn’t nearly as good as “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” but at times it feels like three episodes of that show jammed together — that is, if Larry David were a Gen-X firecracker whose anger-management issues make Larry look like a pussycat.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter WWE‘s NXT won out in the so-called Tuesday Night War against AEW‘s “Dynamite.” According to the Nielsen overnight ratings, NXT pulled in 921,000 viewers on Tuesday night with 396,000 in the key adults 18-49 demographic. “Dynamite” averaged 609,000 viewers with 346,000 in the demo. While that is a far cry from the numbers seen during the Monday Night Wars between WWE (then WWF) and WCW, it is still a resounding victory for WWE, with NXT up approximately 7.5% compared to last week’s show.
John Cena is walking back his criticism of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Dwayne Johnson after he previously criticised his career transition from the WWE into acting.During a press conference for WWE Fastlane on Saturday (October 7), Cena was asked about the hypocrisy in his feud with Johnson between 2011 and 2013 when he returned to WWE after leaving to pursue an acting career.Since then, Cena has made the same career switch, with roles in the Fast & Furious franchise and 2021’s The Suicide Squad.“I went about it the wrong way,” Cena said at the conference in regards to the feud. “I violated his trust and I made allegations about his perspective that I knew nothing about.“And deep down, I was a fan.

I had to say ‘I’m sorry and I was wrong,’ because I am sorry and I was wrong, and that’s a very humbling experience,” he added. “Dwayne is a hell of a guy… I became who I despised.
John Cena is opening up about his former feud with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Zack Sharf Digital News Director John Cena was asked at the press conference for WWE Fastlane about his own hypocrisy in his former feud with fellow wrestler-turned-Hollywood-actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Cena has said that his beef with Johnson was fueled by his anger over Johnson abandoning WWE in order to become an A-list Hollywood actor, which is exactly the career move Cena would take himself. Cena admitted in May that he was “short-sighted and selfish” in feuding with Johnson, and now he told press that “I 100% see and understand” how people could consider him a hypocrite for calling out Johnson and then following in his footsteps.

Dua Lipa, Henry Cavill and John Cena link up in the trailer for upcoming spy movie “Argylle.”
was unceremoniously shelved by Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav last year, and actor Henry Cavill was fired from the role of Superman shortly after.
The trailer for Argylle is finally here and it looks SO fun!
Charna Flam Although Henry Cavill has hung up his Superman cape, the star is set to save the world once more, this time as an international spy in Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming spy thriller, “Argylle.” Apple Original Films released the first trailer for the movie, teasing Cavill’s super-spy, Argylle, who travels around the globe conducting top-secret missions. The film, out Feb. 2, 2024, was previously said to be based on a forthcoming novel from first-time author Elly Conway — but with the trailer and movie’s official synopsis, it’s been revealed that Conway is also a character in the film.
Argylle, featuring Dua Lipa, has arrived – you can watch it above.Directed by Matthew Vaughn (Kingsman franchise), the star-studded film follows Bryce Dallas Howard’s (Jurassic World franchise) spy fiction novelist Elly Conway, who spends most of her nights at home with her cat, Alfie. However, when the plots of her books — centred on secret agent Argyle (Henry Cavill) — begin to mirror the covert actions of a real-life spy organisation, Elly’s quiet evenings at home quickly become a thing of the past.An official description adds: “Accompanied by Aiden (Sam Rockwell), a cat-allergic spy, Elly (carrying Alfie in her backpack) races across the world to stay one step ahead of the killers as the line between Elly’s fictional world and her real one begins to blur.”Alongside Howard, Rockwell, Cavill and Dua Lipa, the A-list ensemble cast also includes John Cena (Fast X), Ariana DeBose (West Side Story), Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek), Sofia Boutella (Kingsman: The Secret Service), and Samuel L. Jackson.
DC co-Boss James Gunn took to Instagram’s Threads to field fan questions, and in the process confirmed that Xolo Maridueña will continue to play Blue Beetle, Oscar winner Viola Davis will still be Amanda Waller and John Cena will remain Peacemaker.
An online rumor recently made the rounds saying filmmaker Matthew Vaughn was next in line to take over the James Bond franchise, and it’s fitting but almost laughable. Because Vaughn, who actively sought the James Bond gig early in his directing life, has basically made an entire career of doing his own spy franchises, almost snubbing his nose at Bond in the process.
