EXCLUSIVE: Da’Vine Joy Randolph (Only Murders in the Building) and Cliff “Method Man” Smith (Power Book II: Ghost) have signed on to star alongside Kerry Washington and Omar Sy in Lionsgate’s action-thriller Shadow Force, from director Joe Carnahan (Copshop).

Oscar winner Will Smith is attached to star in Sugar Bandits, which is one of the buzziest packages at the EFM market this week in Berlin.

Brent Lang Executive Editor Josh Duhamel will join the ensemble of the survival thriller “Not Without Hope,” an adaptation of Nick Schuyler and Jere Longman’s best-selling book that will be written and directed by Joe Carnahan. Also joining the cast are JoBeth Williams, Quentin Plair, Terrence Terrell and Marshall Cook.  As previously announced, Zachary Levi (“Shazam!”) is starring in the film, which tells the real-life story of a tragic 2009 boating accident involving Schuyler, his friends Will Bleakley (Cook) and NFL players  Marquis Cooper (Plair) and Corey Smith (Terrell). Levi will play Schuyler. The search-and rescue-operation captivated national attention. Duhamel will portray U.S. Coast Guard Captain Timothy Close, who oversaw a crew that cut through the ocean to try to find the friends who went missing. Carnahan has some experience orchestrating survival tales, having previously directed “The Grey,” which found Liam Neeson battling very hungry wolves after a plane crash stranded his character in a snowy mountain range. This time the foes are a raging sea, dehydration, severe hypothermia and various marine predators. At one point, “Not Without Hope” was slated to be made as a film starring Miles Teller, but production delays due to COVID scrambled those plans.

EXCLUSIVE: Frank Grillo (Captain American franchise, Kingdom) has signed on to star opposite Harvey Keitel in Justin Price’s action-thriller Hard Matter for Wonderfilm Media, which is currently in production in Biloxi, Mississippi.

The premise of Howard Hawks’ classic western “Rio Bravo” is a simple, yet timelessly effective little potboiler. So much so, that it’s been retooled over and over again in any setting and the idea never quite loses its urgency.

Ladies and gentlemen, Joe Carnahan, Frank Grillo, & Gerard Bulter have returned to re-light the flame of old-school R-rated badass action with their new film “Copshop.” The film follows a con man (Grillo) who gets himself arrested to avoid dying at the hands of a frightful hitman (Butler). In true Carnahan fashion, blood, guts, and explosions occur, and the actors chew the hell out of the scenery.

Filmmaker Joe Carnahan (“Narc,” “The Grey“) is back with the action pic “Copshop” with a cast that includes seasoned action veterans such as Scottish actor Gerard Bulter and Frank Grillo. The film is opening this weekend, and Carnahan has been noticeably absent from the press.

Captain America star Frank Grillo has a crazed hitman in the form of Gerard Butler on his tail in the first trailer for Copshop. Heading to the big screen next month, this Joe Carnahan-directed actioner looks both funny and adrenaline-inducing, with strong characters ready to lay down some violence.

EXCLUSIVE: Open Road films, which didn’t pull back on theatrical releases for cinemas during the pandemic like other studios, has set a release date of Sept. 17 for its Gerard Butler action movie Copshop from Joe Carnahan.

Unless you’re a fan of video games, particularly those of generations past, the term that inspires the title of Joe Carnahan’s latest action film, “Boss Level,” might be lost on you. That means you may not be familiar with the time spent playing a section of a video game over and over and over again (sometimes for hours on end), trying your damnedest to reach the final battle, only to be killed by the bad guy and forced to start once more at the beginning.

“Groundhog’s Day” is basically its own genre now, and Hollywood will apply a time loop scenario to almost another genre to create some strange hybrid. The latest attempt to mashup time loops and [insert genre here] is director Joe Carnahan‘s “Boss Level,” which applies action mayhem to a man who has to relive his own death every single day.

We’ve seen plenty of time-loop-filled, “Groundhog Day”-esque films.

Streaming takes another away from theaters, as the pandemic forces yet another film to skip the big screen and take a streaming paycheck. This time, it’s the long-awaited “Boss Level” action film from Joe Carnahan.

Taken separately, the names Gerard Butler, Frank Grillo, and Joe Carnahan all probably bring to mind macho, action-packed films. But combine the acting talent of Butler and Grillo with the filmmaking style of Carnahan, and you’re likely in for a film filled with so much testosterone that you might have to wipe yourself down after viewing it.

Gerard Butler is adding another action-thriller to his portfolio, this time for newly-relaunched distributor Open Road Films. The Fallen franchise star is set to take the lead in Copshop alongside Frank Grillo, with Joe Carnahan (The Grey, The A-Team) set to direct.

The third part of the franchise "Bad Boys for Life" will release in India on January 31. The buddy cop movie series began in 1995.
