Selome Hailu Logan Lerman has been cast in “We Were the Lucky Ones,” Hulu’s upcoming limited series based on Georgia Hunter’s novel of the same name. Inspired by a true story, the series follows a Polish Jewish family that is separated by World War II and determined to survive and reunite. Lerman plays Addy, the middle child, who is 25 years old at the start of the war. He is an adventurer who lives in Paris as an engineer while also enjoying budding success as a music composer, and has an ability to find common ground with dissimilar people and a talent to fix anything. Addy’s character is inspired by Hunter’s grandfather, who was a young man in the late 1930s. Lerman is best known for leading the “Percy Jackson” films as well as “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” with additional credits including “The Butterfly Effect,” “Hoot,” “3:10 to Yuma” and “Indignation.” Most recently, he has appeared in the film “Bullet Train” and Amazon Prime Video series “Hunters.” He is represented by WME, Brillstein Entertainment Partners and attorney Bob Wallerstein.

Chris Columbus is writing and directing the story of a group of friends who solve murders. The 2020 book by Richard Osman tells the story of four friends who live in a retirement community and take on cold cases for fun.

Among the newly elected is technology executive Wendy Aylsworth, who will represent the brand new Production and Technology Branch. Aylsworth, who also serves on the Board of Governors for the Television Academy, spent more than two decades at Warner Bros. and became the first woman president of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers.

Elle Fanning and Sarah Paulson are to star in 'I Am Sybil'. The pair have boarded the movie that is to be co-written and directed by Mirrah Foulkes. The end has come for City On A Hill. Showtime has canceled the drama series after three seasons, Deadline has confirmed. The Season 3 finale will now serve as the series finale. The third season launched in September.

Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner will produce the 95th Oscars telecast, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced on Saturday.The announcement was made at the beginning of a meeting open to all Academy members, the first time in eight years that AMPAS has conducted such a forum. The hiring of Weiss and Kirshner means that the upcoming Oscars ceremony, which will take place on March 12, 2023, will be the first with a producing team whose experience does not include a substantial amount of work in film.Weiss, who will also direct the Oscars, for the eighth consecutive year, is a director and producer who known for his work on live telecasts like the Oscars, the Tonys and the Kennedy Center Honors.

Carlos Valdes will star opposite Mae Whitman in Hulu’s upcoming series “Up Here,” the streamer announced today ahead of the start of production. Valdes, who is best known for his seven-season role in The CW’s “The Flash” and most recently co-starred in Starz’s “Gaslit,” will play Miguel in the original romantic comedy musical from Disney Television Studios’ 20th Television and Old 320 Sycamore Productions. “Up Here” is an original series set in New York City in the waning days of 1999.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Monday announced its newly elected 2021–2022 Board of Governors. Among the first-timers is Rita Wilson for the actors branch, while Oscar- and Emmy-winning director Susanne Bier returns for a new term in the directors branch, as does two-time Oscar show producer Jennifer Todd for the producers branch. Seven out of 12 governors elected for the first time are women, as are three out of four returning governors.
