Every episode of BBC's Call the Midwife pulls viewers in with endearing storylines, kind characters and it's feel-good factor, and now fans won't have to wait too long for it to be back on screens. Following a teary Christmas special, the period drama has confirmed it's next series, which will mark the programme's 13th run, is just days away from airing. BBC bosses have now revealed that viewers will be able to pick up where the East London-based show left off this Sunday (January 7).

Stephen McGann is one of the four famous McGann brothers, who is best known for his role as Dr Patrick Turner in Call the Midwife. The new series of the hit BBC period drama returned earlier this year, much to the delight of fans as we follow a group of midwives and doctors working in East End London during the late 1950s and 1960s.

However, in 2021, the actor was released from prison after spending nearly three years behind the bars; the conviction was overturned by the state Supreme Court. The actor, now 85 years old, has discussed plans for a comedy tour.

Dame Judi Dench has said her upcoming film Allelujah speaks to the “debt we owe” NHS staff. The veteran actress, 87, stars in the story about surviving old age alongside Absolutely Fabulous star Jennifer Saunders and Harry Potter’s David Bradley.
