“What We Do in the Shadows,” who ended Season 4 Tuesday on FX crooning “Sunrise, Sunset,” the old classic from “Fiddler on the roof.”Don’t ask … you had to be there. In more urgent matters, Colin (Mark Proksch) returned to his adult form as an energy vampire, garbed in his familiar drab suit and glasses and nattering on about his home-improvement ideas — quite a change from the infant who exploded out of dead Colin Robinson’s stomach in the Season 3 finale.Through the magic of the show’s special effects wizards, Proksch spent most of this season acting with his head transplanted onto the body of a child as Baby Colin, who sported an impressive head of hair while playing video games and tap-dancing (with tux and tails) in Nadja’s vampire nightclub.
, the Emmy-nominated FX mockumentary following four vampires and their familiar living in Staten Island, just closed out another captivating and darkly funny installment of the series with a surprisingly emotional season 4 finale. Among them was seeing Guillermo, a descendant of Van Hesling, officially coming out as gay while navigating his complicated relationship with Nandor, who spent most of season 4 in search of a long-term companion. Guillermo’s sexuality was addressed during a midseason episode, when the familiar visited his family and was forced to reveal that despite being related to a notorious vampire killer, he actually wants to become one. “In season 5, we have a really good episode where we’ll see Guillermo with his family again,” Simms says, adding that they’re “always expanding and opening that world” fans have been given glimpses of from season to season. While speaking to ET, Simms and Proksch opened up about key moments from season 4, Baby Colin’s unexpected maturity and where things go from here.

It’s always nice to see a series based on a movie really take off and become its own thing, find its own voice, and discover its own sea legs. And FX’s “What We Do in the Shadows,” based on the feature film of the same name by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, has certainly down that.
Karen Idelson With its deadpan humor and documentary style, “What We Do in the Shadows” could easily be summed up as “The Office” for vampires. Which means it’s the job of costume designer Laura Montgomery and production designer Kate Bunch to create a setting and a look that are both grounded in the ordinary and genuinely creepy. “I was a big fan of the movie, so I was really excited to join the show,” says Montgomery of the film that inspired the series. “I think the most important thing for me, because it’s such a fantastical setting, is for the costumes to be grounded in truth.
