His eccentricities, including a party-all-the-time, spend-spend-spend ethos, played no small role in his downfall, though a golden parachute of $1.7 billion certainly helped cushion the landing.As it turns out, soon after Neumann arrived in the United States some 20 years ago, he would encounter — via his sister, Adi — another Israeli-American just making his way into the world of wealthy investors:  Guy Oseary, longtime manager of Madonna, whom Variety named Music Mogul of the Year in a cover story out this week.

Madonna became close with the man she calls her “ride or die” in the same way that most people bond: through late nights out, long conversations — and no small amount of mischief.In an interview with Variety, the pop icon opens up about her unconventional relationship with Variety’s 2022 Music Mogul of the Year Guy Oseary, that extends from partner-in-crime, at least in their early days in Miami, to trusted business partner and source of “calm wisdom.”“I was always the adventurous, crazy one,” Madonna says. “As soon as Guy would get a little look of fear in his eyes, I’d think it was a good idea. I would use him as a weathervane.” However, that dynamic only crystallized over time.

Guy Oseary has proven himself in every field he’s taken on: as a music manager, as an early digital investor and most recently as an entrepreneur in the emerging world of NFTs and Web3 entertainment.But for all that, he had privately catered to one bit  of insecurity that he finally let go during the downtime imposed by COVID shutdowns.“A silver lining of the pandemic is that Guy Oseary became a silver fox,” says Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, a longtime friend and now client of Oseary. The two hadn’t seen each other for a year when “I went to an island he was hanging out on, and he was 100% radiant,” the singer continues.

Guy Oseary, whose management clients include Madonna and U2, has counseled Nick Cannon following comments the multi-hyphenate made on his podcast, “Cannon’s Class,” deemed anti-Semitic.

Guy Oseary has “stepped down” from the day-to-day running Maverick, the management collective he founded in 2014. “I’m ready for my new chapter and welcome the opportunity to have more time to focus on management of Madonna and U2 while furthering my passion for identifying and incubating revolutionary businesses,” said Oseary in a statement, first published by Billboard.

Guy Oseary is stepping away from his day-to-day role at his management collective Maverick to consult for Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino and further concentrate on his tech and entertainment entrepreneurial interests.The news comes with a three-year extension of Oseary's existing partnership with Live Nation, which purchased Maverick in 2013.
