Makers of The Crown have reportedly decided to pay tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II in the hit drama’s final season.

Claire Foy’s appearance on Who Do You Think You Are? got very emotional after she uncovered the truth about a tragic story from her family’s past. The British actress, 39, is best known for her portrayal of a young Queen Elizabeth II in the first two seasons of Netflix historical drama The Crown. Her performance earned her an Emmy for outstanding lead actress in a drama series, and she reappeared as the Queen in flashbacks later on in the series.

Yossman Benedict Cumberbatch and Claire Foy are set to play a married couple in an animated adaptation of beloved British children’s book “Mog’s Christmas.” Cumberbatch and Foy will lend their voices to the Channel 4 adaptation of Judith Kerr’s book, playing Mog’s owners Mr and Mrs Thomas. Rebecca Rubin Film and Media Reporter Will Sharpe, who endeared himself to audiences on “The White Lotus,” is directing a feature film adaptation of Michelle Zauner’s 2021 memoir “Crying in H Mart.” Zauner’s novel centers around her relationship with her Korean heritage and her mother, who died from cancer in 2014. Best known as the frontwoman for indie-pop band Japanese Breakfast, Zauner is adapting the screenplay and will also play a part in the film’s music.  According to the official synopsis from MGM, which is backing the movie, “Crying in H Mart” is a “coming-of age story about a half-Korean daughter who returns to small town Oregon to care for her Korean mother. Critical and smothering Chong-mi and creative and independent Michelle struggle to understand each other across a cultural fault line, only learning to see and accept one another through the formative power of music and the vibrant flavors of Korean cooking.”

When we caught up last Spring, Claire Foy was thoroughly engaged and enthusiastic about her work in “A Very British Scandal.” But when I asked her about her then-upcoming role in Sarah Polley’s “Women Talking” her eyes lit up like fireworks on the river Thames. And we certainly know why now.

Janelle Monáe has been set to receive the Critics Choice Association’s SeeHer Award, an honor that will be bestowed next month during the 28th annual Critics Choice Awards. She joins Jeff Bridges, who earlier this month was tapped to receive the group’s Lifetime Achievement Award at the ceremony.
