Kate Bush, Missy Elliott, George Michael, and Rage Against the Machine will all be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year, it has been confirmed. The Class of 2023 group also includes Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow, and the Spinners. The 2023 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on Friday, November 3, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic Willie Nelson just got an only slightly late 90th birthday present: an impending induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The country music legend was one of seven music figures announced Wednesday morning as having been voted into the hall, along with Kate Bush, Rage Against the Machine, Missy Elliott, Sheryl Crow, George Michael and the Spinners. There are six more inductees beyond that list, with the distinction of being selected by a select Hall of Fame committee to join the seven performers who were voted in via general balloting. These are singer Chaka Khan, instrumentalist-producer Al Kooper and lyricist Bernie Taupin, all in the “musical excellence” category; pioneering rock guitarist Link Wray and hip-hop originator DJ Kool Herc in the “musical influence” division; and “Soul Train” TV host Don Cornelius as the recipient of the annual Ahmet Ertegun Award.

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic Tanya Tucker did not let much time slip away after the Country Music Hall of Fame announced her impending induction this week before coming out with an announcement of her own: She has a second album produced by the team of Brandi Carlile and Shooter Jennings coming soon, following up on a celebrated previous effort that earned Tucker her first two Grammy Awards. The album “Sweet Western Sound” will be out June 2 on Fantasy. A teaser track from the record, “Kindness” is out now. The song was written by Carlile’s bandmates Phil and Tim Hanseroth. The collection reunites the team that made Tucker’s comeback album, “While I’m Livin’,” a 2019 set that got the singer a Grammys for best country album, and its closing track, “Bring My Flowers Now,” which won best country song.

The rousing, life-affirming "(I'm Gonna) Love Me Again" from Rocketman (Paramount) won the Oscar for best original song at the 92nd Annual Academy Awards on Sunday (Feb. 9).

The 2020 Academy Awards went down on Sunday night, and one of music’s biggest names came away with an award. Elton John took home the Best Original Song award for “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again,” a track from his 2019 biopic Rocketman. He won alongside collaborator Bernie Taupin. It’s John’s second win and fourth nomination in the category, following a trophy for The Lion King’s “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” in 1995.

It was a celebratory night at Elton John's 28th annual AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party, and not just because the gala raised more than $6.4 million for the global effort to end AIDs. This year, John arrived at his party with a golden statue in his hand.

Elton John is victorious in the category again — this time at the 2020 Oscarson Sunday for "(I'm Gonna) Love Me Again," a tune from his very own biopic, Rocketman.John wrote the song with his longtime collaborator Bernie Taupin, and performed it withRocketman's lead actor Taron Egerton."Wow, this doesn't suck!" said Taupin upon taking the stage.
