David Lee Roth alluded to coming out of "retirement" and plans to return to the stage with a "Van Halen" tribute band after performing in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico over the weekend. The 67-year-old "Van Halen" lead singer was spotted leaving the Los Angeles International Airport where he admitted he was "only in the middle of my first retirement" months after canceling a Las Vegas residency due to the coronavirus. Roth was the original vocalist of the hard rock band which formed in the early ‘70s with late guitarist Eddie Van Halen, drummer Alex Van Halen and bassist Mark Stone.

Sammy Hagar reflected on the key to Van Halen's massive success during his years with the rock band. The 75-year-old singer joined guitarist Eddie Van Halen, Eddie's brother and drummer Alex Van Halen and bassist/vocalist Michael Anthony in 1985. At the time, Van Halen, co-founded by the Van Halen brothers in 1974, was already one of the biggest rock bands in the world.

Former Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar wishes he could get the band back together. The rocker spoke about the memories he has with the group, telling USA Today, "I cherish them more than ever." Hagar joined Van Halen, founded by the late Eddie Van Halen, his brother Alex Van Halen and Michael Anthony after the departure of lead singer David Lee Roth.  After a successful run with the band from 1985-1996, Hagar and the other members of Van Halen parted ways on not-so-great terms. "What happened with us at the end is just such a shame," Hagar said of the breakup.

Wolfgang Van Halen – the son of the late Eddie Van Halen – has elaborated on why a tribute to his father ultimately fell through.In an interview with Rolling Stone, journalist Brian Hiatt inquired as to a prospective tribute concert – which was slated to feature Joe Satriani and drummer Alex Van Halen, Eddie’s brother and co-founder of Van Halen. The tribute was leaked to the public via former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted, who mentioned it in an interview back in April.Wolfgang, who was the bassist in the last formation of Van Halen, confirmed that there were plans in place – although, according to him, the tribute was “in such an early stage that it never even got off the ground.”“What I can say is that there was an attempt at doing something,” he said.
