Though previous reports stated Schlesinger was in a medically induced coma, his family clarified the state of his health in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

Adam Schlesinger, the Fountains of Wayne frontman and songwriter for the show Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, is hospitalized and on a ventilator while battling COVID-19.

Fountains of Wayne co-frontman Adam Schlesinger has been hospitalized and is in critical condition after contracting the coronavirus, his girlfriend told Fox News. "Adam has been hospitalized with COVID-19," Schlesinger's girlfriend, who wishes to remain anonymous, she said in a statement sent via his agent early Tuesday.

Adam Schlesinger, the singer-songwriter behind Fountains of Wayne and various film and TV soundtracks, has been in the hospital for more than a week with COVID-19, Variety and Rolling Stone report. The 52-year-old’s girlfriend confirmed the news via Schlesinger’s agent in a statement to Pitchfork.

The creative forces behind The Nanny and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend are teaming up to bring the beloved '90s sitcom to Broadway. Series creators Fran Drescher and Peter Mark Jacobson have tapped Rachel Bloom and Adam Schlesinger (who won a songwriting Emmy in 2019 for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) to write the lyrics and music while Drescher and Jacobson tackle the musical's book, Deadline reports.

could be headed to Broadway. The hit ‘90s sitcom starring Fran Drescher is being developed into a new musical by the actress and her ex-husband, Peter Marc Jacobson, who both created the series.
