Pep Guardiola says he will stay as Manchester City manager for life if he gets the chance. The Blues boss made that remarkable claim after being linked with the Brazil coach job when his current City deal expires at the end of next season, saying he would sign a ten-year deal if offered one.
Guardiola has repeatedly expressed his happiness with life at City, but has always been cautious about discussing the length of his stay - largely because he knows that any manager is subject to the fortunes of the game. But ahead of Sunday’s big showdown with Liverpool he made it plain that, if he has his way, he could stay for the long term.
Reports in Spain claimed he was being lined up to join Brazil in a little over 12 months, and he has said before that the prospect of coaching a national team in big tournaments appeals to him. It seems that the lure of being in charge of City appeals even more.

When asked about the Brazil rumour, he said: “Not today, come on. I'm under contract here, I'm so happy. I'm willing to stay forever here. I'd extend the contract ten years but now is not the moment. I don't know where it's come from.”
That will come as welcome news for City fans, who have been concerned that Guardiola might leave next summer, after six years in Manchester - he lasted four at his boyhood club Barcelona and three at Bayern Munich, and there was speculation that he gets restless after a few years at one club.
But Guardiola is free from the political machinations that exhausted him at Barca, and the interference of Bayern legends that hampered him in Germany, having a great relationship with football director Txiki Begiristain and chief executive Ferran
