People, She's Been Sad: Christine and the Queens Gets the Feelings Out With New Song

Chicano Batman have announced their fourth LP Invisible People. The Los Angeles band’s follow-up to 2017’s Freedom Is Free arrives May 1 via ATO. The new album is a collaboration with engineer Shawn Everett and producer Leon Michels. The announcement arrives with the new song “Color my life.” Watch the George Mays-directed video below.

Los Angeles punk icon Alice Bag—formerly of the Bags—is back with a new album. Sister Dynamite is out April 24 via In the Red. She’s also shared a new song called “Breadcrumbs,” which arrives with a new video featuring the Bob Baker Marionette Theater. Watch it below. The Magnetic Fields have announced a new collection called Quickies. It features 28 new short songs by Stephin Merritt that are all under three minutes long. Perfume Genius has announced a new album. Set My Heart on Fire Immediately is Mike Hadreas’ follow-up to his 2017 LP No Shape and it’s out May 15 via Matador. Watch the video for the new song “Describe” below.

Sufjan Stevens and his stepfather Lowell Brams have shared another track from their forthcoming album Aporia. “Runaround” arrives with a music video shot and edited by ABUTTA492. The visual features Bike Life bikers riding ATVs and dirt bikes in New York, Atlanta, and Miami. Watch below.

The Strokes are back with another new track, “Bad Decisions.” They previously performed the song at a Bernie Sanders rally in New Hampshire. The song, which seems to interpolate the melody from Billy Idol’s “Dancing With Myself,” gives a writing credit to Idol and Tony James. Watch the band’s new “Bad Decisions” music video below.

With the release of Brand New, veteran singer-songwriter Matthew West has embarked on a new chapter in his successful career: the collection marks the first album under his new deal with Sony’s Provident Music Group since launching his own imprint Story House Music.

The Strokes played a set at Bernie Sanders’ rally in Durham, New Hampshire Monday night (February 10). During their performance, the band played a brand new song called “Bad Decisions,” premiered the video for “At the Door,” and at the end, Julian Casablancas said, “Album’s coming out April 10.” (Further details of The New Abnormal—and the official “At the Door” video—were unveiled the following morning.) Berlin producer Hendrik Weber, aka Pantha du Prince, has announced his next album. It’s called Conference of Trees, and it’s out March 6 via Modern Recordings. Ahead of the new LP, Weber has shared lead single “Pius in Tacet,” as well as its accompanying visual. French pop sensation Christine and the Queens has dropped a new song called “People, I’ve Been Said,” which is available to stream and as a live-performance video on Colors. As the announcement says, Christine and the Queens — which despite the name is one person, Héloïse Letissier — appears in the video as “a flamboyant figure with fitted suit, somewhere in between a sparkling dandy and sad Pierrot,” while the song continues her artful and innovative take on pop music.

Next week, New York-based electronic composer Nicolas Jaar will revisit his Against All Logic alias for a new album called 2017 – 2019. In preparation of the project's February 7 release, Jaar has shared a new two-song EP featuring “Alucinao,” a collaboration with FKA twigs.
