Ahead of Pancake Day tomorrow, electrical retailer Currys has gone viral on TikTok for sharing a tutorial of how to make pancakes in an air fryer. The video, which has now been watched 6.2million times, has sent fans into a frenzy, with many desperate to give it a go on Shrove Tuesday - while others remain unconvinced. The popular video shows somebody layering sheets of baking paper at the bottom of the air fryer basket before pouring pancake batter over the top. The idea is then to layer a sheet of baking paper directly on top of the batter, before repeating the process again and again until the mix is finished.
Currys recommends putting the pancakes in for five minutes at 200C. The end result is perfectly fluffy American-style pancakes, which Currys then stacked on top of each other and drizzled in chocolate and sprinkles. Viewers raced to the comments to gush over how amazed they were at the recipe.
One person commented: “OMG! I’m trying this”. Another added: “Will be trying this over the weekend. I’ve done a cobbler vibe with pancake mix in the air fryer before, so I’m super excited.” A third wrote: “Finally someone with the same airfryer!! I’ve got to try this”.
However some people weren’t convinced, one even admitted: “I tried this and it did not come out like that!” Another agreed: “Not me trying this and nearly setting my air fryer on fire”. A third thought they had spotted the trick, writing: “That browning pattern is only achieved in a pan with oil or non stick spray”. One savvy mum, named Hannah, raced to TikTok this afternoon to try out the hack for herself.

Thania Garcia Karol G’s deeply introspective “Mañana Será Bonito” has made a historic entrance on the albums chart as the first all-Spanish-language record by a female artist to hit No. 1. The collection — which spans pop, rock, reggaeton, Mexican music and electronica — is also the Colombian artist’s first leader on the Billboard 200. All four of Karol’s studio albums have charted on the all-genre Billboard 200, though “Mañana” is the first to enter the top 10 of the list. Before this, Karol’s highest charting effort was her last 2021 record, “KG0516,” which reached a peak of No. 20. Only two other all-Spanish albums have previously led the list, both were by reggaeton titan Bad Bunny (“Un Verano Sin Ti” in 2022 and “El Ultimo Tour del Mundo” in 2020).
A series of rituals play out across Helmut Dosantos’ nearly wordless documentary “Gods of Mexico.” Honing in on Indigenous communities and their labor in Mexico despite the shadow of the country’s creeping modernization, Dosantos’s breathtaking film recalls the work of Ron Fricke and Godfrey Reggio in its emphasis on the juxtaposition between static imagery and the syncopated rhythms of manual labor.

The title says it all. Just like Snakes On A Plane was about just that, the new horror comedy Cocaine Bear is about a 500 pound bear on a jihad after coming upon a ton of cocaine dropped into rural Georgia on a drug run gone wrong. The bear ingests the coke and soon you have a beast roaring out of control devouring whatever human comes on to his path. It is all not to be taken seriously, but fortunately director Elizabeth Banks (Charlie’s Angels, Pitch Perfect 2) is smart enough to give audiences hungry for a ‘Jaws’ in the wilderness, some nice scares mixed in with the laughs plus a bit more bang for their buck than just a marketable title.
Giant Spanish-language powerhouse TelevisaUnivision, which merged just over a year ago, saw sales surge 22% in the fourth of 2022 to $1.45 billion on strong World Cup games. Advertising revenue was up 14% in the U.S. and 10% overall.
Todd Spangler NY Digital Editor Spanish-language media giant TelevisaUnivision saw a 22% jump in pro-forma revenue for the fourth quarter in 2022, boosted by its 2022 FIFA World Cup coverage and midterm political ad spending. The company also for the first time reported audience figures for its ViX streaming service, touting more than 25 million monthly active users on the free, ad-supported tier. (It didn’t release numbers for the ViX+ subscription tier.) According to TelevisaUnivision, that makes ViX the world’s largest Spanish-language streamer. TelevisaUnivision, which was formed through the January 2022 merger of Televisa and Univision Communications, reported a net loss of $1.6 billion for Q4. That included a $1.7 billion non-cash impairment charge, primarily on its goodwill, which it said was “driven by the impact of general market conditions, including comparable market valuations and the rising interest rate environment.” The company’s impairment loss in 2022 related to the write-down of goodwill, TV broadcast licenses, tradenames and program rights.
