‘Paddington in Peru’ Sets 2025 Release Date

James Gunn is finally talking about the developments at DC Studios after SAG-AFTRA struck a deal with the studios following a prolonged strike.

Merry Christmas to all. Netflix announced it will release all 20 episodes of Star Trek: Prodigy Season 1 on Christmas Day, December 25, 2023. The streamer made the announcement during its annual Geeked Week.

Warner Bros/Heyday Films’ Wonka has been granted a December 8 release in China, a week ahead of the domestic start and as part of an early overseas rollout for the Timothée Chalamet-starrer. Wonka will be going the same day as Universal/Illumination’s Migration in China.

The Black Phone is officially getting a sequel!

Lots of release dates changes and additions as the theatrical release schedule take a turn due to the ongoing actors strike. Universal Pictures has staked out June 27, 2025 for The Black Phone 2. The first movie, released during the summer 2022 as moviegoers were coming back to cinemas from the pandemic, was a surprise sleeper making over $90M domestic, $161M worldwide.

US audiences will have to wait longer than those in Britain to see it, however, with the American release date set at January 17, 2025.The film will be directed by Dougal Wilson, in his directorial debut.

Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson will direct from a script they adapted from Ursula Wills-Jones’ short story “The Wicker Husband.” “Wicker” will start production in 2024.

Oscar winner Olivia Colman (The Favourite) and Oscar nominee Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire) have been set to lead “twisted” romance Wicker, which Black Bear will be launching for sales at next week’s AFM.

Last week, Marvel Studios pull “Deadpool 3” from its May 3, 2024 release date, leading many to speculate if more studios would soon shuffle their schedules. And as the SAG-AFTRA strike crosses the 100-day barrier, several blockbusters on next year’s release calendar for Paramount move to different spots.

Sony Pictures today officially announced via Twitter that their third “Paddington” film titled “Paddington In Peru” would be officially heading to theaters on January 17, 2025 (though it will open two months earlier in the U.K. on November 8, 2024).
