Since everyone has nothing better to do at the moment, there is way too much time on our hands. It's only been about a week or less since social distancing became a thing due to the coronavirus pandemic, and people are already creating false rumors to keep themselves entertained. Case in point: some poor soul online crafted up an entire story about Oprah Winfrey—THE Oprah—being a sex trafficker. I've never heard anything so foolish in my life.

Oprah Winfrey wants to make one thing clear: she has NOT been arrested for sex trafficking.

Late Tuesday night, as results trickled in from Democratic primary elections and the number of people infected by the novel coronavirus continued to climb, Oprah Winfrey’s name began trending on Twitter.

Oprah Winfrey will not be a victim of online trolls. The former talk show host and TV personality took to Twitter to debunk false claims that she was arrested for sex trafficking charges following an online conspiracy that erupted on the social media platform overnight. 

Oprah Winfrey, 66, says she was NOT arrested on March 17, despite a widespread report that had surfaced about the rumor. “Just got a phone call that my name is trending,” she tweeted during the early hours of March 18. “And being trolled for some awful FAKE thing. It’s NOT TRUE. Haven’t been raided, or arrested. Just sanitizing and self distancing with the rest of the world. Stay safe everybody.”
