Jimmy has “violated” the MLB’s domestic violence policy, and has been suspended for the remainder of the season without pay.
MLB Commissioner Robert D. Manfred, Jr., announced that Jimmy had violated the Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy, and he was then placed on the restricted list.
Jimmy will now participate in a “confidential and comprehensive” evaluation and also enroll in a treatment program that is supervised by a policy board.
The MLB has not released details of the domestic violence accusations against Jimmy.
“The Yankees are fully supportive of Major League Baseball’s investigative process and the disciplinary action applied to Jimmy Cordero. There is no justification for domestic violence, and we stand with the objectives, standards and enforcement of MLB’s Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy,” the Yankees shared in a statement.
Prior to the Yankees, Jimmy also played for the Washington Nationals, Toronto Blue Jays and the Chicago White Sox.
