people actually can hear you scream (or sing), it turns out. Groundbreaking data collected by NASA’s Perseverance rover is able to replicate how people would sound on Mars compared to Earth. The space agency even boasts an online tool that allows Earthlings to simulate how they’d sound on the red planet from inside our homes.
That’s right: You can drop your own Mars bars in a round of interstellar karaoke. To use it, simply go to the Sounds of Mars section on NASA’s website, navigate to the “You on Mars” tab, then “click and hold the button to record your greeting,” per the site. Finally, download the audio file to hear how your voice sounds on Mars.
After testing the function ourselves, The Post can safely say that those tin cans we spoke into as a kid to replicate “Martian speak” weren’t too far off. “If you were standing on Mars, you’d hear a quieter, more muffled version of what you’d hear on Earth, and you’d wait slightly longer to hear it,” wrote NASA on their site.
“Some sounds that we’re used to on Earth, like whistles, bells or bird songs, would almost be inaudible on Mars.”The findings were part of a breakthrough study that calculated the speed of sound on the red planet. To measure the speed of sound on the planet, the Perseverance rover fired a laser at a rock and recorded the noise it made on impact, per the findings unveiled at the 53rd Lunar and Planetary Science Conference.Researchers then measured the time of the laser firing against that of sound reaching the recording device and compared it to sonic data on Earth’s surface. They clocked Mars’ slower speed of sound at 540 mph, compared to 760 mph on our home planet.

“The View” hosts were particularly on edge Wednesday morning, and by midshow they erupted into an all-out yelling match. This time, the topic of discussion was U.S. immigration policy. As the women discussed the topic, guest host and former Trump White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham noted that, because she lived in Arizona for two decades, she doesn’t believe the U.S.
third eye in the middle of his forehead! Nope!“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” was written by “Loki” creator Michael Waldron (will we see an appearance by the TVA?) and directed by the legendary Sam Raimi, who basically invented the modern comic book film with 2002’s “Spider-Man” and its two sequels. If there was anyone who could take Doctor Strange to the next level, especially after his supporting turns in “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Endgame,” it’s Raimi.
Striking while the iron’s hot. Less than two weeks after Will Smith’s Oscars scandal, August Alsina dropped a new song that alludes to his “entanglement” with the actor’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
alopecia is the worst she’s dealing with. “If you are so lucky in life as to have that be your medical problem, just say thank God,” Maher cracked to his guests, attorney Laura Coates and former presidential and New York City mayoral candidate Andrew Yang.“It’s not life threatening.
and, Paramount+ has brought back together the housemates of the original season for an all-new installment. That’s right, David “Tokyo” Broom, Melissa Beck, Jamie Murray, Danny Roberts, Matt Smith, Julie Stoffer and Kelley Wolf have all returned to the Big Easy to find out what happens when people stop being polite and start getting real. As teased in the tense and dramatic first trailer, things will be just as dramatic, if not more, 22 years later as the cast of season 9, which originally aired in 2000, are forced to live in the same house as they previously did. “Julie has a controversial history with many of us,” Danny is overheard saying, before Melissa adds, “I’m not trying to mess with that lady.” Clearly this group has a lot of unfinished business to deal with that hasn’t resolved itself in the two decades since they made history on TV by showing Danny’s relationship with a closeted man in the military during the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell era of serving.
A new angle from the 2022 Oscars has viewers asking even more questions about Will Smith slapping Chris Rock. In footage taken from the floor of the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, Jada Pinkett Smith appears to laugh at her husband’s scuffle with the comedian.
Red Hot Chili Peppers will become the 2,717th recipients of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. There’s a good case to be made that at least a couple members of the enduring rock band that is synonymous with Los Angeles have had a closer connection to the sidewalks of Hollywood — literally — than any of the 2,716 honorees that preceded them.“I’m pretty sure that I have inadvertently vomited on Hollywood Walk of Fame stars in my lifetime,” Anthony Kiedis says, with a tinge of romanticism as he recalls a misspent youth prior to the group’s formation nearly 40 years ago.

safety in New York City’s transit system to care about Will Smith smacking Chris Rock — or to weigh in on Kyrie Irving slapping around COVID-19 vaccine mandates.During an unrelated press conference, Adams was asked for his thoughts on the scene-stealing moment of Sunday’s 94th Academy Awards when Smith, who later won the Oscar for Best Actor, slapped Rock in the face while on stage in retaliation for the comedian’s “G.I. Jane” joke about the actor’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.“I was in the subway station last night.

won’t look different: There’s no automatic months-long extension on the due date like we saw for the past two years. (Though you do get a three-day grace period: Taxes are due April 18, since the IRS is closed on April 15 for Emancipation Day in Washington, D.C.) Which means it’s time to tear off a chunk of sourdough and get down to business. While this was waived for 2020 thanks to the American Rescue Plan—no needed to be paid that year on unemployment benefits of up to $10,200—that temporary relief period has ended.
