Brent Lang Executive Editor of Film and MediaIFC Films has acquired worldwide rights to the SXSW award-winning documentary “Bad Axe.” The deeply personal film is directed by David Siev, and follows the director as he returns home to rural Michigan. There, he captures his Asian-American family’s quest to keep their local restaurant alive, amidst the backdrop of pandemic and Trump-era political and racial tensions. It’s Siev’s feature debut.

Manori Ravindran International EditorMagnolia Pictures has snapped up the North American rights to a Martin Scorsese executive-produced documentary about New York’s historic Chelsea Hotel.Amélie van Elmbt and Maya Duverdier’s “Dreaming Walls,” about the Manhattan institution and its controversial renovation, world premiered in the Panorama section of the Berlinale in February. Magnolia plans to release the film in theaters and on-demand this summer.The Chelsea Hotel, an icon of 1960s counterculture, was a haven for famous artists and intellectuals including Patti Smith, Janis Joplin and the superstars of Warhol’s Factory.

Anne Hathaway could moonlight as a karaoke lounge singer if the acting thing fizzles out. The "WeCrashed" star, 39, proved her pipes when she made an appearance on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" Tuesday and beat the "American Idol" winner at her own game of "Sing That Name That Tune" by performing part of one of Clarkson’s big hits. It all started when Hathaway jumped out to a 3-0 lead on Clarkson and the talk show host hilariously tried to get Matt Iseman and her band to "play a fricking song I'll know." On came Clarkson’s 2004 smash "Since U Been Gone." Within seconds, Hathaway stepped up to the center podium and let her voice rip, singing the song’s chorus to the live studio audience.

Kelly Clarkson and Anne Hathaway faced off in a singing competition, and the outcome was very unexpected. On the March 22 episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, the two stars played a game of “Sing That Name That Tune” hosted by Matt Iseman. Kelly, 39, and Anne, 39, stood on opposing platforms as the beginning tune of a song would play, and once they recognized the song, they would step out on the platform and sing the lyrics. Well, after Anne beat Kelly in the first three rounds, the American Idol champion was frustrated things weren’t going her way.
