A schoolboy died after being struck by a tree as Storm Malik wreaked havoc on the UK this afternoon.
The nine-year-old was badly injured in the incident, which took place at around 1pm.
Emergency services were called to the scene and the boy, and a man, were rushed to hospital.
But the youngster was unable to recover from his injuries and sadly passed away.
He is the second person to lose their life due to the storm, with a 60-year-old woman being killed in Aberdeen after also being hit by a tree.
Our sister title StokeOnTrentLive reported that mercy crews attended the incident in Hollington Road, Winnothdale, near Tean, in Staffordshire.
The pair were rushed to Royal Stoke University Hospital for treatment.
His family are being supported by specially-trained officers from Staffordshire Police.

The man remains in hospital, and police are asking people to avoid the area where the incident happened.
The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: "Police received a report at 1pm this afternoon that a tree had fallen on a boy and a man, in an area close to Hollington Road, Winnothdale, near to Tean.
"The man and the boy were taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital.
"Sadly, despite the best efforts of medical staff, a nine-year-old boy passed away.
"The boy's family are being supported by specially-trained officers.
"The man remains in hospital.
"A scene remains at the location, where people are asked to avoid the area.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
