Albert Hammond Jr has spoken to NME about his new hip-hop-inspired single ‘100-99’, his upcoming solo album ‘Melodies On Hiatus’, working with Arctic Monkeys‘ Matt Helders, and progress on The Strokes’ next record. The guitarist and singer-songwriter shared his latest solo track earlier this week (April 4) and announced details of the new record – which will be his fifth solo album and the follow-up to 2018’s ‘Francis Trouble’.The LP’s first single finds Hammond Jr combining a beat inspired by ‘90s hip-hop and a glacial guitar melody as he sings: “I’m not safe / I’ve made mistakes, I would again / In spite of what it cost me.” It’s a merging of styles that he has wanted to try out for some years.“I’d write riffs and think, ‘I can imagine that looped with a beat and someone rapping over it’,” he told NME. “This song just happened to work [like that].

“Murder Mystery 2” Review: Sandler and Aniston Feed The Rich In This Unnecessary Sequel

The first “Murder Mystery” from 2019, written by James Vanderbilt (“Zodiac”), was a fun star-studded throwback to the 1980s Agatha Christie films like 1982’s “Evil Under the Sun,” with salt of the earth Brooklynites Nick and Audrey Spitz (Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston) thrown into the mix. The script was a smart, genre-savvy affair coupled with Sandler-style lowbrow comedy, a combination that almost worked, but was undone by the lackluster direction by Kyle Newacheck.

Miley Cyrus responds to Wisconsin elementary school ban on her Dolly Parton collab ‘Rainbowland’ with donation

Miley Cyrus has responded to a Wisconsin school banning students from singing her Dolly Parton collaboration ‘Rainbowland’ by donating to an LGBTQ+ organisation.Teachers from Heyer Elementary School in Waukesha, Wisconsin were ordered earlier this week to remove the song from a planned concert in which it would be performed by first-graders.According to a statement by the Waukesha School District, a music teacher at the school asked the principal to approve the song’s usage prior to the ban. After he and a central office administrator reviewed the song, they found it “could be deemed controversial”, based on one of the district board policies. The lyrics of ‘Rainbowland’ – from Cyrus’ 2017 album ‘Younger Now’ – do not explicitly mention LGBTQ+ issues, but do espouse a general message of acceptance for others.

ACM Awards Enlist First-Timer Garth Brooks and a Returning Dolly Parton as Co-Hosts for 58th Annual Show

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic The Academy of Country Music Awards have named their co-hosts for the show’s annual webcast May 11, bringing in Garth Brooks for his first-ever role hosting any awards show — joining repeat ACMs host Dolly Parton, who did it as part of a trio last year and as a solo host back in 2000. The 58th annual edition of the show will be seen on Amazon Prime Video exclusively for the second consecutive year. The ACM Awards left broadcast television behind last year after having aired on CBS from 1998 through 2021, and on ABC and NBC through the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s. “While I’ve had the pleasure of spending time with (Brooks) throughout the years,” Parton said in a statement, “I can’t believe we’ve never had the chance to work together.” Parton additionally said that she will be premiering the debut single from her upcoming “rock” album on the show, fulfilling a vow she made to produce a genre-specific record when she was elected into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Nick Cave: “ChatGPT should just fuck off and leave songwriting alone”

Nick Cave has shared his thoughts on the AI-based platform, ChatGPT, saying that it should “fuck off and leave songwriting alone”.The Bad Seeds frontman made headlines back in January after sharing his less-than-enthusiastic views on using AI platforms to write songs – stating that the process is a “grotesque mockery of what it means to be human”.The comments were initially raised after a fan contacted Cave via his Q&A site, The Red Hand Files, and shared some lyrics generated in his style, made by the AI computer program ChatGPT. “Thanks for the song,” he wrote in his initial response. “But with all the love and respect in the world, this song is bullshit, a grotesque mockery of what it is to be human”.Now, the rock icon has once again spoken out about the AI service being used to create lyrics, and said that he wants it to “fuck off and leave songwriting alone”.“My objection is not with A.I.

track featuring —at an upcoming spring concert. Melissa Tempel, a dual language teacher at Heyer Elementary in Waukesha, Wisconsin, vented her frustrations on Twitter after learning the song had been deemed too “controversial” for six- and seven-year-olds to perform. “My first graders were so excited to sing 'Rainbowland' for our spring concert, but it has been vetoed by our administration,” Tempel wrote last week. "When will it end?" Initially, administrators did not elaborate on their reasoning for the ban, leading Tempel to wonder if Dolly Parton's vocal support for the LGBTQ community had something to do with it. “The latest I heard is that the song was banned bc @MileyCyrus is controversial,” she added in a subsequent tweet.
