Nicola Sturgeon contemplated quitting last year over an investigation into her actions during a Government probe into Alex Salmond.
The First Minister made the admission after being asked about how difficult it would be for Boris Johnson to resign.
In an interview with Sky, Sturgeon blasted Johnson for his smear about Labour leader Keir Starmer that he failed to prosecute abuser Jimmy Savile.
She said Johnson should “fully, unreservedly, unequivocally” apologise to Starmer.
In another part of the discussion, she was asked what it would be like to leave a job like the role of PM and how difficult it is to make that kind of decision.
She said: “I've not had to make that decision. But I've had to contemplate it and I'll come back to that in a second.
“But before I do, the kind of job I have, the job Boris Johnson has, these are privileges. They're not entitlements, nobody is entitled to be first minister or prime minister.”
She then opened up about her experience of being investigated over her Government’s unlawful probe into sexual harassment claims against Salmond.
A Holyrood committee investigated the Government’s decision into the fiasco and concluded she had misled parliament over an aspect of the row.
However, an independent probe by James Hamilton last year found she had not breached the ministerial code.
She told Sky: “My own personal experience this time last year - I was being accused in a completely different context, of having breached the ministerial code.
“I should say I was found by an independent adviser, and in an independent report, not to have breached the ministerial code.
