Nick Cordero ‘responsive’ as Covid-19 recovery continues

LOS ANGELES- For the third day in a row, the number of positive results tests for COVID-19 rose in Los Angeles County. The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LACDPH) confirmed 50 new deaths and 1,824 new cases. Some of the new cases reported are from a backlog of test results. To date, LACDPH has identified 51,562 positive cases of COVID-19 across all areas of LA County, and a total of 2,290 deaths.

LOS ANGELES – As officials across 53 of California’s 58 counties continue to implement various stages respectively for the limited reopening of their economies, public health officials recorded 132 new COVID-19 related deaths Tuesday. That grim count marked the most deaths in a single day since the previous count of 117 late last month.

Former WWE superstar Shad Gaspard has gone missing near Venice Beach, California. The wrestler was visiting the beach with his son and wife Siliana. He was one of the swimmers who were pulled into a rip current at the beach. The 39-year-old was the only one who went under. According to TMZ, as the lifeguards rushed to rescue the wrestler, he requested them to help his son first. While they successfully saved his son, a large wave crashed onto Gaspard.

The path to reopening the economy in California and its largest county proved to be the focal point Tuesday of both Gov. Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles County’s COVID-19 press briefings.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Holding his daily press conference inside a small business in Sacramento’s Oak Park neighborhood Tuesday, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced that the threat posed by the Coronavirus has decreased to a point that state health department officials are comfortable moving into the second phase of reopening California’’s economy.
