Newt Gingrich: Georgia Senate runoff losses were a Republican disaster that could’ve been prevented

After all the chaos and upheaval of the last week, it’s important to remember that we still need to move forward and fight for America’s future — and for our freedom. But where do we go from here? More than 74 million Americans voted for President Trump in the 2020 presidential election — a record for an incumbent.The anti-Trump news media have spent four years calling them racists and are now portraying each one as an insurrectionist because of the actions of a small minority.

Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler conceded to Democrat Raphael Warnock late Thursday, after months of high-stakes campaigning for the Georgia Senate seat.  Loeffler said she called Warnock earlier in the day to congratulate him on his historic win.

President Trump’s expected speech to the Republican National Committee’s annual winter meeting, which is being held this year in Florida, appears to have been scrubbed at the last minute. The president’s planned recorded address to the national Republican Party’s committee members, top officials, and leading activists, which was scheduled for Thursday, will not take place, Fox News chief White House correspondent John Roberts reported.

The Rev. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff owe a debt of gratitude to one man who probably did more than anyone else to help the two Democrats be elected Tuesday to the U.S.

Democrat Jon Ossoff is projected to win the Georgia Senate seat over Republican David Perdue, according to the Fox News Decision Desk.  With Ossoff's win, Democrats effectively control the legislative and executive branches -- the Senate will be split 50-50, with Vice President-elect Kamala Harris casting tie-breaking votes when needed. Ossoff led Perdue by 24,859 votes -- 0.6 percent -- when the race was called, with 98 percent of precincts reporting.

Top congressional Democrats rejoiced Wednesday following the results of Tuesday's highly anticipated runoff race in Georgia, where they are projected to pick up at least one more Senate seat and the outlook on the second race seems high in their favor.   "Buckle up!" Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said on Twitter early Wednesday.  His comment comes ahead of what is likely be a contentious joint session of Congress where lawmakers will vote to certify the results of the presidential

With Democrats close to capturing control of both houses of Congress, President-elect Joe Biden is vowing "to get big things done for our nation." But the president-elect is also spotlighting that even though it’s extremely likely the Democrats will hold a razor-thin majority in the Senate, to go along with their slight House majority, and also control the White House, he plans "to try to work with people in both parties" to find consensus.

Eli Countryman Tyler Perry flew back to Georgia after his absentee ballot failed to arrive in the mail, he tweeted on Monday.The director, writer, producer and actor sent out a tweet on Monday asking if others also had problems receiving their absentee ballots for Georgia’s runoff Senate vote.

As Georgians choose their two U.S. Senators in the January 5th runoff elections, the stakes could not be greater.  If Democratic challengers Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff defeat incumbent Republican Sens.

It could be déjà vu in Georgia, as the state on Tuesday holds twin Senate runoff elections that will determine if the Republicans keep their majority in the chamber or if the Democrats control both houses of Congress as well as the White House.
