Newcastle defender Sven Botman sent countryman Tyrell Malacia a post-match message after Manchester United beat Everton 2-0 on Saturday.
The left-back was starting his third Premier League game of 2023 in the absence of the injured Luke Shaw. The Dutchman kept his 11th clean sheet of the season to ensure the Reds spent Easter weekend inside the top four.
The result came six days after the 2-0 loss to Newcastle at St James’ Park, in which the Magpies overtook United in the table. Their 2-1 win over Brentford - whom United beat 1-0 on Wednesday - keeps them third, ahead of Erik ten Hag’s side on goal difference.

Both teams have a game in hand over Tottenham, who remain three points behind following a controversial 2-1 win over Brighton but have played a game more. It puts both United and Newcastle in pole position to land a top-four spot with nine league games left to go.
Malacia played the full 90 minutes for United this weekend, only the fourth time he has done so in the Premier League since Christmas. He shared his delight at earning the win over the Toffees on Saturday, taking to Instagram to share a shot of him in-game, with the caption: “Three more points in the bag”.
Botman - who plays alongside Malacia for the Netherlands - gave him words of encouragement in the comments. He posted: “Sterk bro” which translates from Dutch as “strong bro”.
Malacia has played 32 times this season with 25 of those being starts. He briefly overtook Shaw in the left-back pecking order at the start of the campaign before an uptick in form from the Englishman saw him regain his spot.
Shaw missed the clash with Everton after coming off 37 minutes into the win over Brentford in midweek.
