A new committee has been appointed for a hall in Springholm.
More than 70 people attended the Springholm Memorial Hall AGM on Friday night.
And a heated meeting saw the existing committee stand down and a new board of 11 – chaired by Mark Johnson – elected.
The running of the hall has been the source of much debate on social media in recent months.
Much of the discussion was sparked by the departure of Springholm Nursery, which left the hall for an alternative facility in Kirkpatrick Durham earlier this year.
The group, run by a committee of parents, claimed it was “evicted” but the old hall committee insisted the group agreed to leave, partly due to rising energy prices.
The News understands that the nursery will not be returning to the Springholm Memorial Hall as it now has a legally binding agreement with its new home. However, fundraising events could take place at its former premises.
Chairman of the previous committee, Yvonne Grant, confirmed that all 11 members had stood down and had no further comment to make.
