Page Six reported that Gayle King's contract with CBS ends in May, and rival networks are ready to move mountains to ink the "CBS Mornings" anchor to a contract. CBS, though, "will do everything we can to keep King," a source said.Despite CBS' hopes, there is speculation that Gayle might be ready to move on from her early shift or move to the West Coast, where her family lives.
Her best friend, Oprah Winfrey, also lives in Southern California. "Gayle's contract is up at CBS in a few months and the networks are gearing up for a bidding war for the ages," a TV source told the New York Post's gossip page, noting that MSNBC "could possibly put in a huge bid to have Gayle take over Rachel Maddow's vacant nightly slot."NBC might come at Gayle in a different way, potentially asking her to team up with Hoda Kotb on "Today." A Hoda-Gayle pairing would make them "the most formidable duo on TV," the source insisted. A different TV insider said Gayle's exit from CBS would spell doom for "The Eye.""If ABC or NBC gets Gayle, it's game over at CBS for talent. The question is, does Gayle want to carry on the morning show in New York when her whole family and best friend are on the West Coast?," the source surmised.
"ABC could give her the third hour of 'GMA' to host from Los Angeles, or a different daytime show. Gayle has proven herself as one of the most talented broadcasters on TV, so the bottom line here is money, and what Gayle wants to do."Gayle recently celebrated her 10th anniversary at CBS.
"After all this time, I still love this job…I think it's an awesome, awesome job," she told her co-hosts last week in marking the occasion. "It's a privilege, and I don't take it lightly.
I love being here with you guys."On Jan. 17, Criss
