NENT Group Sets First Estonian Viaplay Original ‘Who Shot Otto Mueller?’

NENT Group, the company that operates leading Scandi streaming service Viaplay, announced today that it is committing to finance and produce two English language features films per year as it ramps up its international expansion strategy.

Elsa Keslassy International CorrespondentNordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group) is set to produce two major English-language films every year, kicking off with “Hilma,” a biopic of the revolutionary Swedish artist and feminist pioneer Hilma af Klint, starring Lena Olin (“Enemies”). Lasse Hallström (‘The Cider House Rules”), one of Sweden’s most celebrated directors, is on board to write and direct the film.

Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group), a leading digital player in Scandinavia, is committing to produce two English-language films per year that will debut directly on its Viaplay streaming service.

Joe Otterson TV ReporterDiscovery Plus is venturing into scripted development, with the streamer acquiring the TV rights to the book “Girls with Bright Futures by Tracy Dobmeier and Wendy Katzman,” Variety has learned exclusively.The move to develop the series, which is in the very early stages, is significant given that Discovery Plus is largely made up of original unscripted programming and library content from channels like HGTV, TLC, Discovery Channel, and Food Network among others.
