The 49-year-old actor will reprise his of Barney Stinson on the upcoming mid-season finale of the Hulu original spinoff series of his show, How I Met Your Father.
NPH starred in How I Met Your Mother for nine seasons since 2005.
The two episode mid-season finale of How I Met Your Father will stream on Hulu on Tuesday, March 28. Season two will continue with additional episodes on Tuesday, May 23 with one new episode each Tuesday through the 2-episode season finale on Tuesday, July 11.
Neil Patrick Harris will appear on the mid-season finale next week.
Here’s a plot summary: “In the near future, Sophie (Hilary Duff) is telling her son the story of how she met his father: a story that catapults us back to the present where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.”

Hulu’s “How I Met Your Father” will make its linear debut next month on Freeform, marking the first time the series has been available off of Hulu. “How I Met Your Father” will bow Tuesday, April 25, on Freeform, starting with the first two episodes, “Pilot” and “Fomo,” at 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. ET, respectively. Episodes will continue to air back-to-back each week, culminating with the season finale on May 23. Hulu will continue to also offer “How I Met Your Father” episodes for streaming as well. “How I Met Your Father” premiered in January 2022; the comedy is currently in the midst of a 20-episode Season 2, having returned earlier this winter.
