NATPE’s Budapest event is set for June with U.S. studios in town to sell to international buyers and a Realscreen format strand that will mark the first NATPE-Realscreen Summit collaboration.
NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution, Paramount Global Content Distribution, Sony Pictures Television and Warner Bros. International Television Production will all exhibit at NATPE Budapest.
Sizeable studio presence comes as several of the U.S. players embrace the international sales scene once more, having kept distribution activity somewhat on the downlow while programming was being kept aside for their streaming services. BBC Studios and TelevisaUnivision are among the international distributors attending.
NATPE said it has over 200 buyers signed up. The Budapest event traditionally benefited from the U.S. studios holding their own showcases in the Hungarian capital for acquisition execs who did not make the earlier trip to L.A. for the May Screenings — ensuring a healthy number of buyers in town.
“As CEE’s most established and influential market and forum for the entertainment sector, it’s vital that we address the trends and issues specific to the region,” said Claire Macdonald, Executive Director, NATPE Budapest. “With the expert counsel of our diverse NATPE Budapest advisory board representing a cross-section of the landscape, we intend to deliver content that is both pertinent and pragmatic.”
Brunico, which owns Realscreen and Banff, acquired NATPE in early 2023. Adding a Realscreen formats track is the first collaboration between NATPE and the Realscreen Summit since the announcement the two brands are coming together for an annual co-located event in Miami. Starting in 2025, the two events will run across a week in
