A shopkeeper insists he was 'never going to change the name' of his business - despite its striking resemblance to a famous supermarket. Retro Xpress has welcomed customers on Chorley Road, in Swinton, Salford, for more than a decade.
The store has built a loyal customer base over that time. But aside from its well-stocked shelves, there's something else which keeps the shop in the mind of locals.
The popular shop has been praised for its 'clever marketing' - with a cheeky sign using a similar logo to the major national chain, Tesco Express. "I bought the shop and it was already the name," said owner Jay Patel, 38.

"My customers are happy to come in and they like it, so I kept it. We were never going to change the name, it's what the shop is known as."
Ryan Moss, who previously worked in the shop, said everyone in the area knows the store and enjoys the visual similarities with the more famous retailer. The 20-year-old added: "I've lived here for about 10 years and it's been the name for years, as long as I've known it.
"It was always the joke of the school, people would always mention it. The family that had it before, they were sound, just a lovely family and built the reputation of the shop.
"It's been a staple of the community for years, everyone uses it and having the unique name makes it more memorable I guess. It's good marketing, really." Tesco has been approached for comment.
Retro Xpress is not the only Greater Manchester store to bear a resemblance to a more famous chain. Last year, Morrisan opened its doors on Dantzic Street, by the side of Printworks in the city centre.
