On March 20, Bandcamp waived its revenue shares for a full 24 hours in an effort to help artists whose livelihoods have been impacted by coronavirus. Several companies followed suit, directing all revenue directly to artists on Friday.
It ended up being the biggest sales day in Bandcamp’s history—$4.3 million was spent on music that day, the company announced. The money came from the purchase of roughly 800,000 items.

Last Friday, Bandcamp waived its service fee on sales for a day, putting more money in the pockets of musicians who have been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. According to a statement from Bandcamp today, fans spent $4.3 million over the day, with over 800,000 pieces of music and merch sold on the site. "That’s more than 15 times our normal Friday," the company said in a statement, "and at the peak, fans were buying 11 items per second."
