A stunned mum who found out her name is set go 'extinct' says she wants to start a campaign to bring it back. Stacey Dennis was saddened to see her name on the list of monikers that didn't have a single registration in the UK this year.
But the 37-year-old is hoped that it will one day come back into fashion and is urging people to 'be more Stacey, be less Karen'. As a youngster, Stacey wasn't a fan of her name as she could never find any keychains or mugs with it on, but grew to love her unusual title as an adult.
Although there are plenty of famous Staceys, including Stacey Solomon and Stacey Dooley, American-style monikers have become less popular with new parents across the UK. In fact, Stacey said she never knew anyone with the same name as her when she was younger and even now only knows a few.
The mum, from Pontefract, told the Mirror : "I always get called Tracey, and I'm like, 'It's Stacey!' And there are a couple of variations, and you can't really shorten it. I like it now as an adult, I've gotten over myself, but as a kid, I didn't, just because it's not as popular.
"As an adult, I do, probably for the opposite reasons of why I didn't like it as a kid."
She added: "It sounds a bit classier than Tracey, I guess!"
Stacey says her parents Steve and Shirley - now also an endangered name - picked a name beginning with 'S' to match her older brothers. She was almost called Shelley, but the name was given to her older cousin instead.
Stacey was surprised to see her name featured on the list of disappearing monikers, adding: "I didn't think it was that bad! I thought it was quite a nice name. I'm not surprised really at Barbie being on the list. But no Staceys in a year, what's happening there?
"I think we should

In “Saint Omer,” the taut courtroom drama by French-Senegalese director Alice Diop, the revelations arrive not in the totality of the evidence, not between the imposing walls of the courtroom, or in the loneliness of a witness. In Todd Field’s Tár, we meet Lydia Tár, a revered composer-conductor heading up the Berlin Philharmonic, played by Cate Blanchett. Nina Hoss, as Lydia’s wife Sharon, is concertmaster and first chair violin, and together they navigate the politics of their musical life while parenting their daughter Petra. But Lydia, who is at the top of her game, and readying for her career-pinnacle live recording, begins to self-destruct, forming an obsessive attachment to Olga, a young cellist, just as a troubling past entanglement comes to light. The target of criticism from her students and a New York Post article, Lydia’s staff and Olga desert her. Then Sharon takes flight with Petra, and Lydia finally slides into the demise of both her personal and professional life. In conversation with Antonia Blyth, Blanchett and Hoss discuss the absence of objective truth, how change is built on open-hearted discussion, and the emergence of art from the raw, painful edge of experience.
Sixteen years after being lost in the development woods of Hollywood, filmmaker Todd Field finally returned this year with his masterwork “TÁR,” a film that we named the Best Film Of 2022 in our staff best-of list. Set in the international world of Western classical music, the film centers on Lydia Tár (played by Cate Blanchett), widely considered one of the greatest living composer-conductors and the first-ever female music director of a major German orchestra.

Momma Perez has an uncanny ability to rain on our parade! We just wanted to do something nice for her! We have to remember that it’s not us or about us when she gets the way she does. It’s her! We accept her for who she is – even though it’s not always easy. Thankfully, the kids and Perez had a blast exploring Koreatown. We hit up Daiso to buy some adorable things from Japan. And then we had some yummy snacks at a fast food joint that specializes in Korean delicacies. Watch!
