A mum died after downing four pints of water in just 20 minutes. Ashley Summers had complained of a sore head before trying to quench her thirst.
But she collapsed and was rushed to hospital, where medics discovered her brain had swelled. The 35-year-old was diagnosed with having a condition called hyponatremia.
More commonly known as water toxicity, it occurs when there is not enough sodium in the boy and too much water. The mum-of-two had also complained of feeling thirsty.
The Mirror reports that the family were shocked by what had happened to their loved one. Ashley's brother, Devon Miller, 51, told Mirror USA : "It was a big shock to us all. I was just like, 'this is a thing?'.
"She just felt like she couldn't get enough water... When they left the sand bar to when they got to the dock, it was about a 20-minute boat ride... she drank four bottles of water in that 20 minutes.
"That's half a gallon. That's what you're supposed to drink in a whole day. My sister, Holly, called me, and she was just an absolute wreck.
