Sphere group to “concentrate” on “forward-thinking cities” as they voice “disappointment” in London venue refusal

London Mayor had turned down plans to build an MSG Sphere in Stratford, citing issues of light pollution and negative impacts on residents.Plans for the venue – which would have been the city’s equivalent to the MSG Las Vegas Sphere – were first announced back in 2018, when the Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp (MSG) submitted a planning application to the London Legacy Development Corporation, requesting to transform a site in Stratford. If it had come to fruition, the 21,500-capacity venue would have been the largest concert arena in the UK. It would also have contained a smaller 1,500-capacity venue inside the orb-like arena for grassroots artists, as well as shops and restaurants. Now, following the plans being rejected by Khan, the operators for the company have issued a response, stating that they are disappointed in the decision and will now be directing their developments to more “forward-thinking cities” instead. In a statement shared with NME, a spokesperson for Sphere Entertainment said: “While we are disappointed in London’s decision, there are many forward-thinking cities that are eager to bring this technology to their communities.

Donald Trump hits out at “world’s most overrated celebrity” Kim Kardashian while touting Kanye West

Donald Trump has labelled Kim Kardashian as the “world’s most overrated celebrity” while showing his support for Kanye West. The infamous business mogul and former President of the United States took aim at the reality star in a new post online, responding to claims brought forward by ABC News reporter Jonathan Karl.Karl made the accusations about Trump in an anecdote shared from his new book, Tired Of Winning: Donald Trump And The End Of The Grand Old Party, which claimed that Kim Kardashian organised for “football stars” to visit Trump at the White House during his time in office, in exchange for reduced sentences for the prisoners that Kardashian was advocating. It also claimed that the then-President went along with the agreement as a favour to her ex-husband West, however, when none of the athletes contacted by Kardashian agreed to the White House visit, Trump turned on the reality star. This, the book states, included Trump hanging up on The Kardashians star when she asked him to support another commutation case after this time in office came to an end.“Failed ABC Fake News reporter Jonathan Karl just wrote another bad book.

D Double E on Kano and Asher D being better known for ‘Top Boy’ than grime: “I don’t really like that”

D Double E has spoken to NME about the hardship of early grime stars, Jamaica’s influence on the scene and UK rap’s evolution as a whole. The East Londoner became synonymous with the UK grime scene as a part of the Newham Generals alongside Footsie, before having a thriving solo career and releasing grime classics such as ‘Street Fighter Riddim’ and ‘Bad 2 Tha Bone’.While many grime stars have become household names – such as his longtime friend and frequent collaborator Ghetts as well as the likes of Kano, Asher D (better known as Ashley Waters) and Skepta – the MC and producer, real name Darren Jason Dixon, hailed how the scene had “come a long way”.I love when people can and do what they want to do,” said the MOBO Award winner. “When I hear Kano’s album [2019 ‘Hoodies All Summer’] and he’s got the tunes with Popcaan [‘Can’t Hold We Down’], then I’ll hear Skepta with A$AP Rocky [ on 2017 track ‘Praise Da Lord’] or Wizkid [on 2016 ‘Ojuelegba (Remix)’] – I just love it that everyone is free and that’s what I’m trying to do for myself.”However, when it came to figures from grime becoming more well-known for their successful TV work away from the scene – such as Kano and Asher D playing Sully and Dushane in Top Boy – Dixon said: “I don’t really like that, man, but it adds a little bit more sauce to the person, I guess.
