Molly-Mae Hague overhauls PLT in bid to make brand more sustainable after backlash

Six months after stepping into her role as PrettyLittleThing's Creative Director, Molly-Mae Hague has revealed huge plans to make the brand more sustainable. The 22-year-old is set to make history this week as she makes her London Fashion Week debut with the online brand, and at a press conference where she teased that the show on Wednesday evening will 'blow people's minds', Molly-Mae addressed the hot topic of sustainability.
Over the past few years, PrettyLittleThing have come under fire for its environmental impact but speaking to OK! and other reporters, Molly-Mae revealed how she has been working on a new platform to improve this. Molly-Mae explained: "We’ve been working on something for well over a year now, PLT Marketplace. Which is going to be an app in which shoppers can resell their PLT pieces pre-loved." "It’s not going to be just PLT items, you can sell pretty much anything on there, which is obviously encouraging sustainability hugely.
"It’s also encouraging people to think about what they’re throwing away and what they aren’t, so why not encourage someone else to buy it? "This is a massive movement for us and I think it’s going to really disrupt the fashion industry because people aren’t going to expect that from the brand," Molly-Mae concluded. Whilst the launch date is yet to be confirmed, this is a huge step in the right direction towards the brand's aim of improving its fashion footprint.
