Minneapolis Agrees to Ban Chokeholds After George Floyd's Death

The Murder Mystery actress has stood against police brutality and racial injustice ever since the protests started raging across US after George Floyd died on May 25 in Minneapolis.

Following the wave of peaceful protests (and violent police clashes) over the May 25 death of George Floyd at the hands of four Minneapolis police officers, former cop Thomas Lane, 37, was arrested for his involvement in the fatal arrest. Previously, ex-officer Derek Chauvin — the man identified as the one kneeling across George’s neck while he pleaded, “please, please, I can’t breathe – was charged with second-degree murder, third-degree murder.

UPDATE, 6/3/20, 3:31pm ET: Derek Chauvin has now been hit with an additional charge of second degree murder in the death of George Floyd, according to the State of Minnesota. The felony charge includes a sentence of up to 40 years in prison, according to the amended complaint obtained by HollywoodLife. The complaint argues that Chauvin acted “without intent to effect the death of any person, while committing or attempting to commit a felony offense” when Floyd died.

Kim Kardashian has broken her silence in the wake of George Floyd‘s death. The 39-year-old Keeping Up with the Kardashians star took to Instagram on May 30 to express how “angry” and “exhausted” she was after a video surfaced of the unarmed black man being pinned to the ground by fired police officer Derek Chauvin. “For years, with every horrific murder of an innocent black man, woman, or child, I have always tried to find the right words to express my condolences and outrage,” she began.
