Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation donates $350,000 to COVID-19 relief charities

Disgraced funnyman Louis C.K. has pledged $30,000 (£24,000) to a coronavirus relief fund to aid staff at New York City’s fabled Comedy Cellar.

Comcast-owned European pay TV giant Sky said Thursday that it has committed to donate £500,000 ($625,000) to a recently established emergency relief fund to support the U.K.’s creative community amid the new coronavirus pandemic.

On Thursday (April 2), Metallica's charitable All Within My Hands foundation announced four grants totaling $350,000 to organizations working to help those affected by the global COVID-19 pandemic. The grants will go to Feeding America ($100,000), whose recently launched COVID-19 Response Fund is working with local food banks to support people facing hunger, as well as coordinating with government to support federal nutrition programs such as the School Lunch Program.

Jay-Z and Rihanna are teaming up through their foundations to donate a combined $2 million to help with COVID-19 relief efforts. Together they will be helping undocumented workers, children of healthcare workers that are on the frontline, first responders, as well as incarcerated, elderly and homeless people.
