A report emerged last week suggesting that Meghan Markle would be unable to attend Prince Philip‘s funeral this coming weekend after his tragic death at age 99.

The royal family is currently mourning the loss of Prince Philip who passed away on Friday. While the funeral will be held later this week, his grandson Prince Harry has already reached UK without wife Meghan Markle.

Prince Philip reportedly thought Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's interview with Oprah Winfrey was "madness".The Duke of Edinburgh, who sadly died on Friday 9 April at the age of 99, is said to have thought that "no good would come of" the 36 year old royal and his 39 year old pregnant wife's chat, which aired on 8 March.

Meghan Markle will not be attending Prince Philip's funeral alongside her husband, Prince Harry, who plans to attend. On Saturday, one day after the Duke of Edinburgh's death, Buckingham Palace officials announced a private funeral will be held at Windsor Castle on April 17.

Like the rest of the royal family and fans worldwide, the royal couple was deeply saddened by the news, the duo issued a statement on their Archewell website following the news of Prince Philip‘s death at the age of 99 today.  “In loving memory of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh 1921-2021 Thank you for your service…you will be greatly missed,” the website reads.
