Meghan Markle made a surprise appearance at Spotify HQ for their Women@Spotify, showing solidarity with protestors in Iran as she wore a t-shirt with 'Women, Life, Freedom' written in Farsi across the front.Taking to the stage, The Duchess of Sussex, 41, spoke of the 'courage' for the Iranian protesters, who have been protesting against the country's gendered oppression following the death of Mahsa Amini. Masha died in police custody at age 22 after allegedly violating Iran's strict morality laws which require women to cover their hair.
Meghan attended the event alongside two executive members of her organisation Archewell - executive vice president of global communications Ashley Momtaheni, and president Mandana Dayani, both of whom are Iranian. Mandana spoke about the event on Instagram sharing a picture of herself and Meghan, and another with both Meghan and her co-work Ashley.
She wrote: "Women. Life.
Freedom. Allies have shown up in so many forms over the past month since the death of Mahsa Amini.
"I am so grateful to work with incredible women like Meghan and my fellow Iranian colleague and friend, Ashley Momtaheni, as we continue to highlight the bravery and courage of the women and young girls on the frontlines of one of the most important feminist movements of our lives." She then discussed Meghan's speech at the event, writing: "At an event today, Meghan spoke about the revolution being led by women and young girls in Iran, the courage and bravery they show every day, and their leadership and advocacy of basic human rights: women, life, freedom.
