During a panel, Joel explained what happened.
“Joe [Weisberg] and I walked in [the writers' room] one day and someone had on Matthew and Keri‘s pictures – they’d been defaced,” he recalled, according to Entertainment Weekly. “There’s a devil on Matthew and a funny mustache on Keri.”
He continued, saying, “And we called the assistants in and we called the staff in and we go, ‘Guys, it’s all good to have fun it’s fine, but this is a professional and respectful place to work and we really need to know who did this?’ And one of the assistants finally goes, ‘It’s Matthew.’”
Matthew admits that he was the one behind the prank, explaining that it happened after a “boozy lunch.”
“I was like, ‘new disguise options,’” he joked.

EXCLUSIVE: “I’ve always boiled it down to there’s something very simplistic to Mason,” Perry Mason star Matthew Rhys admits about the iconic and haunted lawyer he portrays on the HBO prequel series. “It’s not necessarily his sense of justice but sense of right and wrong,” the Emmy winner adds. “What is right and wrong, and how he goes about righting that, righting that wrong, is, at times, very questionable. But fundamentally, his sense of pure form justice is so strong that everything else becomes very difficult, and the playing of that was just magic.”

Emily Tannenbaum Fans of FX’s popular Cold War drama “The Americans” will undoubtedly check out “The Diplomat” in the hopes that Keri Russell’s next political thriller can fill the heart-pumping void the hit series left behind in 2018. They shouldn’t — at least, not for that reason. Though “The Americans” and “The Diplomat” share a star, as well as a similar focus on marital power struggles, the new series from “Homeland” executive producer Debora Cahn is less gritty spy thriller and more soapy workplace drama. Throughout the show’s eight, hour-long episodes, I found myself thinking of “The Diplomat” as a Shondaland-inspired take on “The West Wing,” which makes sense considering Cahn cut her teeth as a writer on both “Grey’s Anatomy” and Aaron Sorkin’s NBC series.

Cynthia Littleton Business Editor As seasoned espionage pros, they didn’t give up much, and they didn’t indulge in too much nostalgia. But for an hour or so on Wednesday evening, five core players of “The Americans” reunited in Midtown Manhattan to share stories and spread a few compliments for work they did together on the highly lauded FX series. To mark the 10th anniversary of the spy drama’s debut, stars Keri Russell, Matthew Rhys and Noah Emmerich were joined by showrunners Joe Weisberg and Joel Fields for a lively reunion conversation hosted by the Paley Center for Media. If you happened to be at the Overlook Film Festival earlier this month, you were gifted with the rare opportunity to see Jim Jarmusch onstage twice. Once was during a live performance by Sqürl, the band he cofounded with collaborator and producer Carter Logan; the other was the tenth-anniversary screening of “Only Lovers Left Alive.” On paper, it was the perfect synthesis of art forms and artists, with Jarmusch and Logan playing songs from the “Only Lovers Left Alive” soundtrack before introing the film the following day.
