Matthew Perry Promises to Remove Keanu Reeves Insults From His Book

Matthew Perry is trying to make amends.
The 53-year-old Friends star had already publicly apologized to Keanu Reeves for insulting him in his memoir, “Friends, Lovers & The Big Terrible Thing.”
Now he is vowing to remove the controversial insult from future editions of his book.

“I said a stupid thing. It was a mean thing to do,” Matthew told the LA Times. “I pulled his name because I live on the same street. I’ve apologized publicly to him. Any future versions of the book will not have his name in it.”
Further, Matthew said he would also personally apologize to Keanu. “If I run into the guy, I’ll apologize. It was just stupid,” he said.
When discussing making the movie A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon, in which he played River Phoenix‘s best friend, Matthew reflected on River‘s death after making the movie in 1993 due to an overdose.
“River was a beautiful man inside and out and too beautiful for this world, it turned out. It always seems to be the really talented guys who go down,” he wrote. “Why is it that the original thinkers like River Phoenix and Heath Ledger die, but Keanu Reeves still walks among us?” Matthew wrote in the first edition of his book.
Later in the book, Matthew recalls his reaction to the news of Chris Farley‘s death: “I punched a hole through Jennifer Aniston‘s dressing room wall when I found out. Keanu Reeves walks among us,” he wrote.
Keanu Reeves was reportedly “taken aback” when he heard of Matthew’s digs at him in his book.
“I’m actually a big fan of Keanu,” Matthew said in his public apology in October 2022. “I just chose a random name, my mistake. I apologize. I should have used my own name instead.”
