Matt Hancock was determined to enter the famed I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle – and nothing like a potentially broken rib was going to stop him. It’s been claimed that the ex-Health Secretary had a rib injury prior to entering the camp, having completed filming for Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins (which has yet to air) before wading his way through creepy crawlies in the jungle.
Sustaining an injury on the Channel 4 special forces show may not be too surprising given its tough environment, with contestants put through their physical paces and challenged with tasks ranging from 100ft dives to fake kidnappings. There were reports that the MP received special treatment during his stint on the series, but apparently, this was not the case – and he had the bruised ribs to prove it.
‘Despite rumours that Hancock received “special treatment” during SAS filming, instructor Rudy Reyes has revealed the MP “gets worked like a barbecue rib” on the show,’ the Daily Mail reported. Hancock, who finished third on I’m A Celeb, sparked widespread backlash from the likes of Covid-19 charities, politicians and stars, including Jodie Comer when he announced his decision to do the show.
The controversial politician served as Health Secretary during the Covid-19 pandemic, but was forced to resign when he was caught breaking his own social distancing guidelines in a tryst with married aide Gina Coladangelo. The 44-year-old previously explained that he had hoped for ‘forgiveness’ from the public during the course of I’m A Celeb.
