Martin Scorsese To Attend His “Beloved” Marrakech International Film Fest As It Marks 20th Edition

Organizers of the Camden International Film Festival in coastal Maine are moving ahead with regular programming today, as Hurricane Lee – downgraded to a post-tropical cyclone – aims further north towards Nova Scotia.

With another feature on the way to theaters in “Killers Of The Flower Moon,” it’s time for Martin Scrosese to start making his press rounds. An early stop on the tour? Time Magazine, and IndieWire reports via the publication’s new video interview with the director that Scorsese revealed he’s not keen on Top 10 Films lists.

Martin Scorsese’s “The Last Temptation of Christ” stirred up no end of controversy when it was released in 1988, met with protests and condemned by religious groups, while a terrorist attack in a Paris theatre showing the film injured 13 people.

When it comes to Fall 2023 theatrical releases, none may be more anticipated than Martin Scorsese‘s “Killers Of The Flower Moon.” Scorsese’s adaptation of David Grann‘s 2017 book of the same name already premiered at the Cannes Film Festival to much acclaim. But as the film approaches its October theatrical release, EW reports that the director wants to emphasize how different his movie is from Grann’s book despite following the same historical events.

Speaking to Time magazine for a video interview (see below), the “Taxi Driver” and “The Departed” icon said he is generally against top 10 best lists. “I’ve tried to make lists over the years of films I personally feel are my favorites, whatever that means,” Scorsese said.

Altering an initial platform-release plan, Apple Original Films will instead launch the Cannes Film Festival hit Killers of the Flower Moon to a wide global theatrical release October 20. Apple is partnered with Paramount Pictures on the theatrical release. This before the Martin Scorsese-directed film that stars Robert De Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio and Lily Gladstone gets an Apple TV+ berth. That timing is undetermined at the moment, but it will surely be in the heat of awards season.
